A group I was in rode for one hour, got off and played in a waterfall for a while, then rode for another hour back. My first time on a horse; I was completely comfortable walking, mostly ok when the horse trotted, and not happy at all when it cantered. I’ll try this again, sometime after my tailbone stops hurting.
How to ride on a horse
How I did it: Couldn't convince my husband to let me have a go, so when I was on holidays alone with my sister in the Philippines, we managed to arrange horse riding up in the Baguio mountains, it's a beautiful way to enjoy both nature's landscapes and love for animals. I found it difficult to discipline my horse though, I didn't understand why I have to kick him in the belly for him to go faster, and I think my horse intuitively guessed I wasn't very sure of what I was doing and took advantage of it *sigh* by groaning and being stubborn. I didn't fall off though, and I had some very helpful professionals with me who made sure no harm came to me or the horse!
Lessons & tips: Keep it cool and don't be afraid to be underambitious in your first riding sessions. Try to take lessons in a reputable place where you know your security and the horse's wellbeing is the priority.

There’s a place near where I live that teaches…I feel kindof old to try. My older sis does it and has her own horse. I just miss animals. Ill look into it more this spring….
horse riding is diffinatly worth it. Atfirst I was quite scared around horses – but now I’m much better AROUND horses rather than on them
you don’t have to have a horse to ride though!
good luck with your riding

This place looks good. If Jason and I end up going to NC next month maybe I can do this and finally find out what it’s like to be on a horse.

Its really fun… and bumpy… One time I rode on a horse named zues who has bad nasal problems after eating carrots… He sneezed orage snot all over me, (luckily not in the face >,<) It was disgusting!
Folks, if you have a chance to ride a horse in a safe environment where it’s not likely you’ll be injured, try it, no matter your age or experience level. Make sure those who are supervising this experience know what they’re doing, of course.
I first rode a horse at age 4 and last rode one (showing my age) in my very late 30’s. Horses are a wonderful introduction to nature and the way it demands of us mere humans an understanding of what it is to truly pay attention.
