    BBC 2 years ago

Since I started this goal I’ve started watching BBC world news everyday when I wake up to know what’s going on around me. Plus I like to watch C-span and read news on the internet. I think I’ve become informed enough to take this off of my list and keep it off my list.

I’m fantastic about keeping up with current events, especially politics, during the summer when I’m at my internship, in front of a computer 9-5, and generally have a least a few hours of free paid time during the work week. Then, I read the NYT religiously. At school, I’m juggling so many things and my free time is less constrained than my free work time, that I just don’t have time keep up with current events. Do I really not have the time or am I putting behind things that are less priorities? Hard to tell. These days, I don’t have much time to waste anyway. I’ve tried making the NYT my homepage, so that I’m at least giving it a cursory glance everytime I open a web browser.

Considering I’m a political science double major, I tend feel very guilty when I fall behind on current political issues and events. Unfortunately, my studies in that field currently are mostly focused on either the Cold War or research data, so I don’t have academic incentive to keep up with the news.
