Tongue Piercings

I’m 12 years old, and I really really want to get my tongue pierced, but my mom doesn’t want it to give me a bad rep. I want it because I like them, not for oral, or to be more “punk” or “scene” then I already am. I think my mom should let me be my OWN PERSON and not worry about what other people will think of me, as parents are supposed to tell their kids, “It doesn’t matter what other people think. What matters is what you think.”, and my mom’s totally opposite.

im 16 and i got mii tongue pierced 5 daii’s ago now. i felt dem push the needle through but it wasnt actually that bad. and i hate needles!! enyway, it felt really weird at 1st but i kinda got used 2 it. it took me ages to eat somthin at 1st and i had 2 eat a lot slower. its not so bad now though. im so glad i got it done. im gettin a smaller bar put in, in a couple of daii’s and i cant wait! its so worth it. they told me to use listerine mouthwash so i have been and it looks and feels fine x

i managed tu convince mynan tu let me get my tongue pierced. i already have my nose and ears my nose didnt hurt much it wus ova really soon. ive been doing my research and im not sure what to expect. theres so many stories on how it can get infected or even corse BRAIN DAMAGE! and loads on how great it is. can u givmi some advise? whats t like do you know any GOOD places to get it done?? please letmi know xxx

I got my tongue pierced about a week ago and it was a brilliant rush. I brought one of my best friends with me and she recorded the whole thing (much to my piercer’s entertainment). It didn’t hurt too bad during the process (the anticipation is the worse part and the clamp is really uncomfortable), but once the needle goes through, it was like a gust of heat and then the pain was over. I hurt pretty bad about 10min later when it started to swell, but i was talking almost perfectly within the next hour. Eating was hard, but if its done carefully, it’s not too big of a burden.

overall… I love it! I’m considering a second one ;P

I got my tongue done when i turned 16, much to my dads disaproval.
Like most of you, i was asked to do research by my mum who wasnt bothered, like how it will affect teeth/gums etc and what healing times are like etc.
With regards to teeth, you should be fine providing you dont bang the bar against you teeth on purpose or rub it against the back of your gums. I had a brace put in a couple years later, which was fine. Healing times depend on the person. The tongue is the fastest healing piercing, as it takes up to 4-6 weeks. it is recommended you eat soft foods.
Im now 20, and i have had no problems.

Research is so boring… I’ve got seven pages an STILL haven’t conned my Step-Dad into it… lol… i am bored to death and i seriously think that i want my tongue pierced… but I’m afraid it’ll get infected and I’ll get brain damage or something… scary!!!! This research is soooo scary when you see the bad sites… infection… abscesses…. brain trauma… BIG.. NEEDLES… ouch…........ oh well, I’m going to go beg my Step-Dad into it AGAIN…. oh and by the way I’m 12 years old….

I’m going to do my research RIGHT NOW… well, whatever there is left to research… any ideas on what to look for when researching? Hope so because I’m buggered for ideas!!!

Steve if you read this please please please let me get my tongue pierced tomorrow I’ll clean my room and everything!!! It only gets infected if you don’t clean it and i will!!! Kim told me how to take care of it… After every drink and bit of food i have to wash my mouth out with Listerine… and i can’t eat any crap. and if you let me get it done tomorrow I’ll go back to school straight away and i won’t talk and I’ll show Kim when i get home straight away and I’ll keep my room clean and and and PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have a few questions about getting my tongue pierced… i might be getting it done tomorrow:

1. Does it hurt when you get the piercing?

2. Do you actually slobber all over everyone because that’d be SO embarrassing…..???

3. When your tongue goes numb, does the needle thingo hurt?

4. Is the clamp irritating?!!!?

Piercing my tongue is something I’ve only wanted to do just recently, but now that i think about it, it’s a great idea! Getting my tongue pierced isn’t something that’ll wear out in a week, it’s something I’ll have for life. I’ve only got my ears pierced and I wanted to get my belly button done but I’m over that. No-one else at school has their tongue pierced that i know (and i know a lot of people)and i like being different than everybody else. I hope my Step-Dad and Step-Aunty read this because i have a website that can show you good things about tongue piercing. All those bad things people say about tongue piercing only happen if you don’t take care of your tongue while it’s pierced… if you ever get your tongue pierced keep it clean and you won’t get an infection or anything. A HOLE IN YOUR TONGUE IS LOTS OF FUN!
