I’m sure I’ll still keep walking, but I glad to get this completed before it gets too cold. Now to think of a good goal to replace it :-)

Monday, 11-24 – 1 mile
today (Wednesday) just came back from a 4 mile walk :-)
I’m so glad for this goal. It’s really gotten me to start taking better care of myself. Even when it’s completed I’ll still continue to walk (I need to come up with a new goal to replace it) Actually, this site has helped me improve myself in many different ways. Yay 43 Things!!
Monday, 10/17 – 5 miles
Wednesday, 10/19 – 5 miles
Friday, 10/21 – 2 1/2 miles
I wasn’t planning on walking today, but my son got a new bike for his birthday today (his first bike with hand brakes) so of course he wanted to ride. I let him ride in the neighborhood as long as he’s with a friend, but since it was raining today, no one was around. So I walked around the neighborhood with him, (in the rain) and got in an extra 5 miles :-)
Total 94 1/2 miles!!
on this goal. It’s just that it’s been cold and rainy here in Rhode Island since what feels like forever. I have been doing some target training (stomach and abs) every day – so there’s no guilt. I’m actually wearing a pair of jeans I haven’t worn in a while because they were a little too snug. Not the Levi’s I wanna fit into, but still…
I haven’t been tracking my weight or inches lost; maybe I should start doing that, although the ‘jean’ factor seems to be a good way to get an idea of my progress :-)
I’m happy with 4 miles today. I’m actually still a little sore from yesterday. (500 crunches – 5 sets of 100) – so 4 is good :-)
Total – 77 miles
Tuesday – 5 miles
Wednesday – 5 miles
Yesterday, instead of walking I did some crunches. Walking is great for me but I want to start target training – especially my stomach and abs. I think I’ll make a goal of doing so many crunches by the end of the year (not sure what it will be yet). So I think I’m going to alternate walking and crunches every other day. Today is a walking day, and I’m off! :-)
Total miles walked – 73
5 miles on Saturday and 5 miles today. I didn’t walk yesterday; we had friends over to watch the ball games (Red Sox and Patriots) and being the procrastinater that I am I did everything yesterday morning, from going shopping to preparing all the food, so there was no time to walk. But I think I deserved a day off :-)
total – 63 miles
Thursday (9-29) – 3 miles
Friday (9-30) – 5 miles
Saturday (10-1) – 5 miles
This walking goal seems to be turning into something more than just trying to do something good for myself.
On Thursday, while I was walking I noticed one of my older neighbors (some one I have never met before except to wave hello to) outside having some trouble putting out her recycling bins. I asked if I could help, which I did. And then she asked if I could get her mail. On top of the pile was an envelope that was obviously a greeting card. She told me that the following day was her 84th birthday, and she was going to celebrate. I asked her how she was going to celebrate. She said she would wake up and make herself some breakfast and feed her dog and some other mundane things we all sometimes take for granted. The fact that she could do these things was reason to celebrate. I wished her a happy birthday and she asked me to come for a visit when I could stay longer. Well, now this woman was on my mind all night and day. On Friday I brought her some flowers from my garden for her birthday. She seemed so sincerely happy to see me; we sat and talked for about an hour until I had to get my son from the bus. We got to know a bit about each other. We hugged goodbye and I told her I’d love to come visit again (which I’m sure I will) It’s turning out that my daily walks aren’t only good for my body but good for my soul too :-)
Total – 53 miles
I had all intentions of making it 5 miles today, but along the way, I met up with a new neighbor who was looking for his dog who had gotten loose. I let him know if I saw her I’d bring her home. Well, I did find her. She was a little Jack Russell Terrier so I was able to pick her up and carry her home. Needless to say, I was happy to give up that extra mile to bring the pup back home to her people, especially when I saw the smile on the little boy waiting at the door :-)
Total – 40 miles :-)
