I’ve worked with so many circus folk, so many jugglers, so many other performers, and I would love to join them in their travels and on-stage and off-stage endeavors, but I’m so tied down with school and family that it will be at least two more years before I can get away with getting away.
I ran away from home a couple years ago, and among the very few things I had with me once I ended up hitchhiking were my juggling balls and my contact ball. I was planning on street performing in St. Paul for the money to get to where I was going, but the man who picked me up off the side of the highway was kind enough to take me all the way. I left my contact ball in his car, I must’ve dropped it when I was getting out (I was playing with it while we drove along). I hope he did something cool with it, it was a new ball, no dings or dents yet, so the acrylic was clear and still very crystal-ball like.
I came pretty close to running away to join the circus again when the Saltimbanco bus tour came through town and gave a little demonstration at my school. I was just as good as they were, I could easily have offered up my services, but I toughed it out and made it through the semester.
We’ll see what happens with this one…its always been an option for me.
