real i know nothing on how to start ,but i am story writer ,and i want some days to come to direct my own movies in Tanzania

How to direct a film

How I did it: I directed the prologue to the film my husband and I wrote together. So it's technically part of another film, but could stand alone as a short. I did a little directing with the rest of the film, but this portion was more planned - with shot lists, multiple takes, more angles/inserts, etc. More traditional, while the rest of the film is more guerrilla in style. I think I came up with some stylish shots. Lessons & tips: Have a good DP who can help you with questions and give second opinions. Have a good shot list. And keep double-checking your script. I know there are a few things I wish I'd shot and didn't (but there always are). Close attention will keep these to a minimum. Resources: My husband gave me lots of support, and watching him direct taught me a lot. Pay attention to the action axis, and continuity. It will make editing so much easier. |

I’m producing our feature, but I’m also planning my directorial debut after we’re done. I’m just going to attempt a short, since it’s my first. I just need to come up with a good concept. I have some ideas, and my husband is going to co-write with me and DP it. It should be fun. I want to do a comedy with a mean edge.
