publish a piece of writing

Instead of being down, I’m actually still pleased that I even got a response. Oh, they’ll publish me one day. I feel it. smile

This was one of the sentences I added to my blog, challenging myself to describe my day in a series of descriptive, concise sentences. I submitted one that just made me laugh and apparently it made someone else laugh, too.

Ok, so it doesn’t really count for this goal, BUT the local paper published my letter to the editor today. It wasn’t a particularly kind summation of the paper’s reporting tactics, but I felt I needed to say it. So, technically, I’ve been published. _smile

...until you try. So that’s why I’ve recently sent out some of my writing for submission. Honestly, I’m not expecting miracles, but it feels good to open myself up to new possibilities. It’s like a little challenge: if they don’t take it, I’ll find someone who will!

Back in early 2000, I wrte a story in conjunction with a friend and we sent it into a magazine to win the grand prize which was $1500 and would pay for my plane ticket to go to MI.

We didn’t win but we got an honourable mention and the editor called me up to ask if she could publish us in another issue, we got a cheque for $50.00 and our names in print.

...if I posted a poem to my blog? :o) But I did start pulling out some of my old poetry and have the itch again. It was gone for so long. We’ll see…
