It’s quite uncomfortable when people ask you what you are, when you’re not entirely sure yourself. I mean, growing up, the “African American” box has always been checked off, but I don’t look black, really.
And yes, I know people shouldn’t be judged by the color of their skin. But, it is obvious that I’m mixed. But, with what, I don’t know. When people ask me what I am, I just say “Other” because to go through arguments with people so they believe me, is ridiculous. On the other hand, what does it matter what I am? It’s everyone’s right to be curious, but I really need to know what I am. After saving up money, I’ll probably go to one of those businesses and get it done. There’s a world of possibilities . . Time to know which ones my ancestors were in.
