own my own bakery

it will be a place people can come and enjoy the sweet life. i want it to feel home-y while elegant and hip. my focus will be on desserts and truffles and of course my inspiration for it all…wedding cakes!!

breakfast and lunch items will be served. bagels, muffins, gourmet coffee, tea, and juice will be the breakfast. while a sandwhich named after each of my friends and family will be for lunch and will consist of their favorite sandwich. i forsee that being a fun research project. =) also for lunch will be a couple different kinds of soup or salad that could replace a bag of chips, and soda will also be offered.

depending upon the location and the need for such a place, i’m thinking that the bakery could also be an after hours spot. should it be within walking distance to a few clubs or bars, my shop could have the munchies and beverages you need to top your fun night.

i have yet to come to a conclusion on how i will decorate my space. one thing is for certain black and white checker tile has to be on the floor. i’ve always loved that part of 50’s diners and would love to include it into my bakery. maybe a rich honey or caramel color on the walls with a detail pattern (diamonds or stripes) to give it an inviting look. stainless steel appliances will fill up my open-air kitchen with granite or polished concrete counters…haven’t decided.

OMG i’m gonna need a big budget! LOL

Did you know that in the old days, people used to buy these little ceramic birds to stick in the middle of their pies to let steam out so the pies wouldn’t explode?
I collect these.
I like pie.
I’m going to have my own pie shop called the Pie Bird.

I opened up my own bakery this past week. It may be small and I may not actually own a store front yet but thanks to some really great word of mouth and my website i have a decent costomer base. I hope that everyone will stop by and take a look at the site.
