so, we got a 16’ by 8’ deck with fence built off our already existing 16’ by 4’ cement slab, and now it’s awesome. we built it in two days with five people’s help, so it wasn’t too expensive. our room is quieter, and our back porch is a new hang out. my mom even added three new flower boxes around the outside of the house and deck, so i’m even more in love with it. and she also didn’t freak out about the dog! =) he got to hang out with us and see the deck in it’s various stages, and i don’t have to hide him anymore! the deck’s his favorite hang out, too, so it’s perfect.

so, my mom’s coming to build a deck off our back porch which is awesome as shiza, but i’m more worried how she’ll react when i tell her i got a dog. ugh.

Need to finish my fence... 20 months ago

Faye and I started putting a fence up around my 20 acres a couple years ago, and subsequently got busy with some other stuff. Well, I have 1300 feet of fencing completed, and another 2200 feet or so left to do.

I’m committed to getting it done this year.

i’m a first-time homeowner. and we’ve got an awesome house. it’s very unique, and i love it, but the only issue is that there’s no fence for our yard. and we’re even on a corner lot, so we get a huge yard, too. we just really need a fenced-in yard for our two dogs who would love one, too!

A way of life... 2 years ago

But the main two are done – the back yard fence and the garden fence. So, while there will be many other fences down the road, I will say that THIS one is Done!

The Main Garden Fence is DONE! 2 years ago

Whoopeeee! Mine, all mine! I don’t think my husband has any idea how much this means to me, to have a fenced garden, safe from dogs. ... next on the list… the chicken fencing!

Fencing, apparently, is going to become a way of life!

Another 50 foot completed & more today! 2 years ago

50 more feet completely done; and ALL the fence posts up. I must have the MOST EXCELLENT husband and son in the world to be doing this for me. I help putting up the welded wire and fetch water and hold tools, but really, I am not doing much. The men are doing all the real work – and all for ME! I am so blessed!

Tear it down 2 years ago

I’ve started pulling down the privacy fence. It is overrun by honeysuckle and the tops of some panels are pulled down. Behind this fence is a three foot chain link fence. Once i get the privacy fance removed and cut the tangle of vines away I am going to replace the chain link. The post and top railing are fine.

50 foot of fence done today! 2 years ago

Can’t really say that I am building a fence. My darling husband is the one doing all the work. I fetch tools and cold water. And clean up after. But it’s starting to really look like a fence! Yippeeeee! Truly, I have the BEST husband!

Thank Goodness for Tractors and Augers 2 years ago

The Garden/Chicken Run fence will ultimately be about 100 ft long by about 70 feet wide – with a divider about 1/3 the way along the length to keep the chickens out of the garden. Holes for the southern side are done and posts installed. The Western Side is almost done – 1 or 2 more holes & posts. Need to do the divider posts and at least enough posts on the north side to meet the devider part of the fence – dogs are getting into the garden and being fairly destructive – need to fence them out quickly! Also, must finish before winter to protect my orchard. Rabbits did a number on the trees last winter.

DH and DS did all the work. I just plan and complain :-) and bring ice tea or hot chocolate, depending on the weather.
