As with quite a few of the goals I’ve tagged in my history, this isn’t one I set out to do in advance. One of those things that kind of just happens.
It was definitely worth it, though—not to obtain the injury, but rather to have it stitched up. I’ve had cuts in the past that I knew I should’ve sought stitches for and didn’t, so it was nice to know this time that I didn’t have to dread a huge scar to come later.

a bread knife
A week ago, I had an accident with a bread knife. We stopped the bleeding quickly and went to the emergency room. It was traumatic, even though it wasn’t actually too bad and I got in right away. I was scared, but I had friends to help me.
I ended up getting 6 stitches on my finger. I also had to get a tetanus shot and 4 shots in my finger to numb it. And I had to get an x-ray and take antibiotics for 5 days. I only nicked a tendon casing, otherwise I might have had to get surgery.
Be careful when cutting bread!

i nearly cut my finger off on a potato peeler of allthings and had to have it sewn back on. Getting the stiches was worth it beacause i knda like all of my fingers and enjoy having them but needing to get stitches was so not worth it

Five stitches.
Worth doing just to make sure I never do it again.

Had stitches in my gum when I had surgery on it to try to redirect a stray tooth, and then after an episiotomy when my son was born.

Incompetent hick ER doctor (who deserves have her license revoked and be subject to the same scarring I have thanks to her incompetence) put stitches where there was not any real need for them to be (wound had stopped bleeding and was gaping slightly (she didn’t make it any better) but not too deep) and caused me an even WORSE scar that I am now, ten years later, still having to deal with. As you can tell, I am extremely bitter.
If it came between getting stitches again and bleeding to death, I’d take the latter.

I suppose this was worth doing? I mean instead of bleeding a lot more?
Anyways, when I was 6 my mother and I were on a bike ride my bike slid out from under me as she was speeding up to hear something I was saying and she ran over my arm. 13 years, 13 stiches and an AWESOME scar later, I still tease her.

1. I was probably about 13 or so, and I had a v. small cyst (benign) under my eyebrow. Just a few that time, and not very exciting.
2. Snowboarding accident at 21, crashed full speed into a chain-link fence. The metal sliced my lip clear through like a piece of paper. Can’t remember how many stitches, but the guy had to sew my lip back together in 3 layers: the inside of my mouth, the muscle layer, and then the outside skin. Got a great scar out of it (plus a broken nose and two black eyes).
3. Freak window incident at 25. Was pulling one shut when it came unhinged from the top and crashed right on my head. Luckily, aside from a few minor scratches, I only suffered one solid slash on my forehead (about an inch long, got 10 stitches). I was proud to walk around town sporting that medical tape, letting people think I took a spill while BMXing or something (if only people knew what a stupid accident it was). Another great scar.
