have dreads

I want to have dreads because it’s a way to make people back to their real nature.
But before having dreads, I have to grow my hair. They are too short for the moment :(

That’s how fat they’re turning out. Now at 8.

Monday Melissa sectioned off my head and we backcombed two of the sections before passing out at 4am. Waking up the next morning though, they are way too big. I think we’re going to have to halve the sections, or resection my whole head. I might leave the one on the left side of my face alone, but the one on the right has to be uncombed and halved. It’s ridiculously big. I passed out last night, so there was no progress made and tonight I’m going to a poetry slam, so we’ll see how it goes.

After my soft neglect dreads from Flipside, I decided my hair was long enough. It is time! So Sunday I conditioned and combed them out and then backcombed two at the nape of neck as testers, so far so good. I actually like the maintenance, which is funny because I never do anything with my hair, blowdrying, styling, anything. I ordered a kit from Knotty Boys and it should be in mid next week. I can’t wait!

Dreads are such a huge commitment, and I love the responsibility! It’s a great way to meet new and unique people and it’s also a great way to start a new lifestyle. I got them because I became a veg-head. I think that making such a huge change in my life internally needed to be sported with a huge external change. And nothing will attract and eye or two better then dread locks. Do it, you wont regret it. :]

I took them out recently [ :( ], but I’d love to put them back in when circumstances show that I can. :D

Well in January I had a dread party and my friends dreaded my hair! They are now like…4 months old. sometimes i want to kill them, but i must be patient with them..

this is the one, I got a dread kit that comes with a metal comb, shampoo,wax, and locking accelerator and 300 rubberband thingies.

the length of my dreads in the beginning was around my shoulders…now they are above my shoulders…they kinda shrink up alot as they dread and mature…I can wait for them to grow longer.

I worked in a horrible place for 2 months just to pay my dreads.
Shipped them from England to México.
A friend of mine who works on a salon took the job to put them on.
5 and a half hours later.. I had blue dreads.

They’re heavy.
They cause you headaches.
You can’t sleep for the first 3 days
They’re dificult to wash
They’re dificult to explain.
In hot weather they’re unbearable

...And they rock.

Totally worth it.
