Planted in pots they are the most satisfying plant to grow. I have Ebb Tide, Lincoln, Double Delight, Jubilee Celebration (not doing so hot) and some pink rose from Home Depot. I get my hybrids from Jackson and Perkins on line and I use banana peels and rose food to make them bloom. I live in Fl so black mold is a bad problem for my roses as are the white Japanese beetles. Spray fixes most everything, going Green on insecticides and fungicides takes too much of my time.

At this stage, I have planted well over fifty roses throughout my property. They are my favorite among all of my plants. I am particularly fond of old, or heirloom, roses. Here are some posts about a few of my old roses:

Just planted a bunch more including some Jackson and Perkins. A pink and a yellow are doing so well…i think pink is Lady of Guadalope and yellow is definitely Honey Perfume.
I paid someone from work $10 and he went on his lunch and planted them…so great..they were sweating in their plastic wrappers for a few weeks now out in the yard. A great idea is to get others to do stuff you don’t want to do and they get some money that way. mg
Planting season is approaching. I’m glad I live somewhere with a yard now! I’m not sure what the landscaping looks like though. I’m not sure if I should semi-blindly plant roses or if I should wait a year and get a better sense of the landscaping.
