not to be smug, but this was an easy one. one shot of Monavie in the morning, one shot of Monavie in the afternoon, and a piece of fruit with every meal. easy peasy!

That is a lot of fruit and vegetables ya’ll.

Ate a bowl of fruit which was at least three servings, had 2 cups of salad before dinner and maybe a cup of veggies with dinner. Just add a fruit in the morning and i’m good to go.

It's a worthy goal, but... 3 years ago

...I’m really tired of writing down all my servings every day. If I try to change my diet someday, I’ll probably bring this back. Until then, I’m going to make sure to eat a big salad daily and veg/fruit with every meal, but I’m done counting…

2 weeks down! 4 years ago

Ah. It’s becoming easier and easier. The only hard bit is sticking to the meals I’ve planned for myself. Even that is getting easier, though. I’m learning to make up big pots of soups or grains or beans on the weekends, and then I can eat them throughout the week. The result is that I only have one or two dishes to make each day, which is more managable than a three-dish meal.

One worry: I’m loving the pureed vegetable soup paradigm, but have no idea how to measure the servings. 1 c. carrot soup obviously does not equal 1 c. carrots because of all the extra liquid. Any ideas?

Way too much of the brassica family lately, I think. 4 years ago

Although not gassy – I’ve heard that this family of vegetables causes more than their share of THAT, but I haven’t really noticed.

Then again, it’s hard not to eat a ton of brassicas as these are in season and lend themselves to wintry dishes. Brassicas include: kale, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, etc. I’ve just been CRAVING them (with lots of butter, or garlic and oil; YUM).

I think it’s time to branch out a bit more. Any favorite simple preparations for wintry vegetables out there?

It’s getting easier. And (if I may put it delicately), it seems to be true what they say about fiber. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that.

Doing well again. 4 years ago

I’ve eaten 7 or more servings a day for the past 4 days. And actually, I feel really good!

One thing that I’m going to start doing is keeping smaller cans of fruit or tomato juice around. In the past, I bought bigger containers of juice. This is not a good idea, as I like juice but will only drink it occasionally as it has a lot of sugar (or sodium, if it’s tomato). Inevitably, I would drink the first 1/3 – 1/2 of the container and the rest would go to waste. Smaller cans are much better as I can drink them in one sitting.

WooHoo!! Beans count! 4 years ago

I just checked the 5-a-Day website again. 1/2 c. peas/beans counts as a serving. I don’t know why I wasn’t counting beans before! Maybe because I think of them as a protein instead of a vegetable. I guess they are both.

Don’t look at me like that – I’ll take my breaks where I can get them.

Had at LEAST 7 servings yesterday, and I’m at about 4 already today. Things are looking up.
