I got my permit renewed so I can practice more.

I used to be a terrible parallel parker, but after living in the city for 15 years, it’s like breathing. If you only do it occasionally, it might be hard to get good at, but if you find yourself doing it all the time you will start to get the feel for it and it will become easy. Good luck!

I live on a good street to practice parallel parking now. Except that I have to live next to the people whose cars I crash into.
astroboylives just bought a klean kanteen and plans to use it at camp.
A couple of weeks ago I was with a friend downtown and I tried to parallel park my Echo. It was bad…horror movie bad. Much to my chagrin, two truck drivers were in a loading zone staring at me and laughing their pants off. They promptly told me that my parking was the most painful thing they have ever witnessed. I could hear their roaring laughter all the way down the block (me = walking very fast; friend = graciously downplaying the hideousness of the episode).

State of Washington says no driver’s license for Jenn unless she can parallel park. Spousal Overunit parallel parked yesterday and my brain nearly exploded. Really can I just sign a waiver that says I will never attempt to parallel park.

I remember failing this for my drivers test back in the day. But years of driving behind me now, and forcing myself to do it….I can do it!
I remember learning parallel parking in driving class and then doing parallel parking in the driving test. However, perpendicular and diagonal parking are more common out here in the suburbs. Even the town of Ramsey, which has parallel parking on street, has added spacers between every two parking spaces so that you can just point your car in. Nevertheless, it’s worth learning parallel parking for when I have to go to the city. I just have to get out of the car a lot to see how much room I have to back up.
oh my gosh I have no idea why I can’t figure it out I always end up 3 or 4 feet from the curb. I think I’m scared to hit the car in back of me. One of these days I’ll get it!
