It did require riding 45 miles on December 30th, but I hit the mark in the end. And I’m on track to do it again! 5 years ago

Before I got laid off, I used to work 12.5km from my house. I was lucky to have shower facilities at work and I kept jackets and shoes at work. I would bike to work every day, carrying a few clothes and stuff in panniers (NOT a backpack as that is hard on the back and annoying too). 25km/day plus the occasional 100km ride on the weekend added up to 4000km in our shorter riding season up here in Ottawa, Canada. I only ride when there is no snow on the ground so I ride mainly between mid-March or April through to the end of November. The miles add up fast if you can commute. I was lucky enough to be able to do that for 6 years – it turned out to be the best thing about working where I did! 8 years ago
