Not preparing like i should be! I need a five minute audition by tomorrow. I’m so nervous…i know that it is something that i was made to do, but i’m so nervous i don’t even want to think about preparing anything. That is definitely something i have to do TODAY. And then i can practice tomm. UGH. Then i just need to prepare an hour long class.
How to become an Aerobics Instructor
How I did it: I went to the conference in Atlantic City. Which was pretty cool because they had lots of aerobics/dance classes we could take...except we couldn't take any of them, which sucked. The class was a lot harder than i thought it would be, mostly an anatomy class. But by paying attention and studying i managed to pass with flying colors. The practical exam was actually the one that i was worried about...i had never taught a class before and i was really worried. I did okay, but i knew i could have done better. I ended up failing the practical :( SO i called them and they told me i could retake the test with the fitness instructor director at my gym. I retook the practical with her and this time i passed!! yay
Lessons & tips: make sure to practice early cueing and counting!

Ms_Scorpio is Dreaming...
I never particularly liked exercise growing up. I dragged along in gym class all throughout high school and didn’t appreciate the school’s enforcement of 45 minutes of physical activity five days a week. Its in college that I found myself taking Aerobics classes, and at one point vowing to myself that I would begin to lead a healthier life with good diet and exercise. I began voluntarily working out as a way to get myself used to exercise in the future, but I have now grown to actually LOVE it. And so I think it would be a great combination to have a job where I can teach, get my daily workout, and get money for doing it! Its a great idea. All it takes is a certification, preferably through ACE or AFAA. However, it takes a lot of studying, so I have to get my mind moving before I can get bodies moving. :-)

I’ve been taking group fitness classes at my gym for awhile now, maybe 2 or 3 classes a week. I’m not extrememly in shape but I can do the classes pretty well. I get very red-faced and sweaty though! On Nov. 20th my gym is offering a free 4-week training program once a week on Tuesdays for people who want to be fitness instructors. Should I see if I can do it?
I in no way consider this to be a “career goal” or anything. I’d just like to teach classes at night while I finish up high school/go to college next year.
well…maybe i just don’t want to do this anymore…thought i did, but guess not…good luck to everyone else
a sweaty no pain no gain sort of a person…just more of a positive role model…leslie sansone, kim king, denise austin…those are some of the people i have in mind that i could emulate, i’ve really stayed motivated to keep exercising because of their positive encouragement…
now’s not the time…but i do keep up with my own personal routine and i still have fun doing it
I’m certified with CanFitPro in Canada. I love fitness, and sharing my passion for it with others. If you want to teach fitness, go for it! Just be warned – it’s not as easy as it looks. But certainly worth it!
