I’m sorry I offended you by calling you a “Fornicator.” I was offended not so much by your post, than by what your words stirred in me. As a gay man who spent 15 years in denial, and who is still climbing out of the closet, I’m in the situation of having parents who will never really know and may not ever even appreciate what I, and others in situations similar to my own, have sacrificed: somewhat the opposite of your opening statement about children not knowing. A sympathetic “gay denial story” doesn’t really exist in the media or pop-culture vernacular yet, possibly in part due to the variation of actual experience. In my life, Authoritative Warm and laughter were downsides of that bargain.
Re-reading the thread, I can see how you were writing in support of Renewalsh. Knowing now that you have gay children yourself, I can’t help but find some irony in the situation, still, even in a thread entitled “Vent,” I was wrong to address the issue so carelessly and callously.
I hope you’ll accept my sincere apology.
