try out for Jeopardy

i first tried out when i was 15 for the teen tournament and didn’t do great. but it helps A LOT to know what the test will be like. i try again on the 28th online…wish me luck!

Well I took the Online Jeopardy Test on March 30th. Somehow I don’t think my trying out is going to go much further than this, so I am going to call this one done.

The Jeopardy! crew came to my area. I took the test and didn’t pass because my pop culture knowledge wasn’t quite up to snuff. My mother, however, did, and the next day she and I went to the site of the second round test (every once in a while my mother and I do these day-long road trip things, and this turned out to be a good day for us to do one). I waited in the lobby while my mother took the 500-question test, chatted with some people on the Clue Crew, and generally had a fun time with that.

I had the most fun doing the pseudo-Jeopardy! game, with prizes like T-shirts (I won the T-shirt in my round and got great compliments on my “good TV voice” and confidence in front of the camera).

If you’re serious about getting on Jeopardy!, though, you’d better be very well versed in pop-culture trivia to pass the first-round test, and bone up on any of your weak areas as much as you can before you take the 500-question test. Also, if you don’t pass the test, don’t take it personally.

(In case you’re wondering, my mother didn’t score among the top 9 contestants in the second-round test, but she had a lot of fun doing it. She’s a huge Jeopardy! fan, so it was a real boost for her to pass the first test and get asked back to continue.)

I’ve tried out three times, and though I never have passed the written test, I feel each time brings me a little closer. Maybe I can be on the show before Alex Trebek retires.
