Worth doing!

...can you make a difference?

You can
- be a voice for the children around the world
- be a voice for animals who are abused
- stand up for discrimination and inequality
- help make poverty history
- work to save the environment from future destruction
- foster animals and children so they have better futures
- donate money to charities you believe in
- walk/run/volunteer/fundraise for charities you support
- help your family
- help your neighbors
- sponsor a child
- purchase only charity cards/gifts for any occasion
- walk your talk
- reuse, reduce, recycle, compost etc… live green
- be active in campaigns that generate the public and politics’ awareness. Eg. oxfam activists, wecansolveit.com or whomever you choose
- give to a wishing tree at Christmas or better yet, donate food to those that have none
- read to sick kids in hospital
- donate your time to the elderly so they can have entertainment or someone to talk to
- Write to members of the government to change laws, get them aware of what is going on, make a point
- Host awareness nights for free trade, international day of peace, etc.
... and boy could I keep going.

All the above, I have done.
All the above, I will keep doing.

This does make a difference but you know what I have found from experience? At the time it doesn’t feel like it because each time you do something it seems so small and insignificant compared to the larger problem. To me, this goal “Make a Difference” is very generic.

We should be looking at goals that are specific.

Anyone can “make a difference” for a minute, a day, a week… and yes that is better than nothing!! However can you donate a well for a community in Africa? Do you know how? How well do you research what you do? How involved are you in this “making a difference” business?

This is why I’m saying I’m done with this goal. I want to be more specific. More dedicated. Not just sugar coat a kind gesture or spread warm fuzzies.

I am here to make a difference. I have done so, but it’s a drop of water in a drought compared to what needs to be done in this world.

May we all “make a difference!” And may it be enough.

The Seeds  — 3 days ago

The seeds have been planted and I’m very excited about the difference I’ll be making in the lives of women and girls through the LiteracyRich Project. One difference I’ll make is help women and girls become more financially literate through this project.

quite posibly one of the happiest times of my life, out of 500 people, i was offered a place as a trainee clinical physiologist =D

i no longer have to worry about this goal anymore, when i finish my degree in 4 years time, i’ll be a fully qualified doctor man at 22, with 4 years experience. it’s going to be awesome, but i know i’ll miss my easy, commitmentless job at subway.

What I want to do  — 1 week ago

I want to make some difference in people’s lives. Could be anything, relative to that person. I’m a cancer survivor and if I can help people in any way I will. I love to be helpful and kind and caring. I also want to feel appreciated by others. This should come when my self esteem improves… Funny how we all work isn’t it? We’re all so human. Our focus is ourselves and yet we need so much work!

Be a Positive Influence on Others  — 2 weeks ago

I want to make other people’s lives better. I want to brighten somebody’s day everyday. I want to make people laugh and smile and enjoy life even if it is just for a moment.

Just because others complain and are miserable doesn’t mean that you have to be.

Be positive. It might just rub off on others.

Eric :)

To do what is thought not to be done by someone that may look a certain way..

Pick up a piece of garbage and throw it in the trash can even if you didn’t leave it there..

Give back..

I volunteer at this place that helps low income people find jobs and housing and do their resumes and get their lives on track. And I’ve been educating the planet about feminism being the best and it’s all been wonderful. Good job, self. My suitemate said I changed her life. :)

Just too many false prophets in this world..  — 4 weeks ago

All these metaphysics authors coming and going, dictating Sandy’s letters, getting a feel for how this whole “spiritual workshop” system goes, all the networking, and fluffing..
I’m learning a lot slowly working for this organization.. figuring out how I want to help people reach consciousness.
I’m not really comfortable with all this ‘selling a product’, but I guess Stranger In A Strange Land said it best,
“You have to sell it to them because otherwise they won’t take it. It takes people a long time to accept a good thing for free”
