but I am working hard physically, going to be horseback all summer, living out of doors, cooking in a communal kitchen at the pack station and on a camp stove in the backcountry. As long as I am strong, healthy, and my clothes fit, I guess I don’t care so much about this goal anymore.

Pwnd.
Two days in a row, means I can retire this task at last. I’ve lost 17 lbs, 10% of my total body weight, all fat. I weigh less than I have in about 20 years.
I can’t say it was worth it, though. I’ve been battling that last pound for more than two months, and I’m no healthier for getting all the way there. I only kept doing it because I refused to let this task beat me.
Well, now it’s done. I’m going to have a cookie for breakfast!!

Ok, so I’ve hit the target. I’ve told myself, though, that I needed to hit it two days in a row to call it done.
No snacks for me tonight…

argh. I know I need to pay attention to the “self nurturing” for a while, but I need to lay off the “nurturing” that involves beer and french fries.
Affirmation: I will get back to my closely held diet starting now, and move down to 157 by the end of next week, and 156 by the week after.

Here it is, Friday again, and I’m back to half a pound away from the goal. This time, my wife and I are going out to a local restaurant with some friends, so I’m sure my weight will shoot back up. Maybe next week?

After bubbling up to 158, I’ve drifted back down to 157 as of this morning. Stress has been pushing the emotional/artistic me to eat and drink more than logical/physical me would recommend to hit my weight target.
Eat less, move more.
Drink less wine…aye, there’s the rub.

Back to 156.5. Soooo Clooooose.
I’m trying to be good today, but it’s friday night, my wife is working, and the kids have been a big headache. That wine is awfully tempting…

back up again, but i’m not surprised. two hot dogs and a slice of pizza on tuesday set me back a pace. then last night a third glass of Italian white wine with our delicious tilapia dinner.
Still, only 1.5 lbs to hitting my goal and checking this off. Hmmm. do I need to stay at 156 for more than a day, just to make it real? Maybe.

A new all-time low. Ok, so not all-time, but certainly the low point of the past two decades. Only 0.5lbs from my goal. I suppose the traveller’s diarrhea is the real reason, but maybe I can keep it off nonetheless.

Finally, a weight breakthrough. God, this has been so tough, with the ups and downs despite my best behavior, and then when I “indulge”, I rocket up two pounds. Still, I’m 1/2 pound closer today to that 156 lb “fighting weight” I want to get to.
I’ll probably fluctuate a lot when I’m in Central America, so I can expect to go backwards by the end of the trip. Maybe I’ll get diarrhea; I can only hope…
