I saw some at Bureau en Gros the other week – nice covers, nice size to write in – and since I now have nice pens, I have to go back and select one.
How I did it: I made a commitment to do The Artist's Way in full, with a friend. We support each other kindly. I also bought myself a new funky notebook & some nice pens. I wake up 30 mins earlier than when I need to and find a nice spot to write in.
Lessons & tips: Don't overthink the morning pages. You cannot do them wrong. Get into the routine - waking up, grabbing a juice or coffee from your kitchen, then settle into a nice spot & write write write. avoid distractions. stay in the zone - they only take 20-30 minutes of scratchy writing & you'll feel soooo much more ready to approach your day.

When I get up, it’s go go go. The only way I’m gonna do my morning pages is if I’m forced to sit on public transportation, or go to a desk job where there is space, like 30 to 45 min, for me to do this. I am never going to do them directly upon waking up. 43 Things is going to have to substitute.
However, I do have two weeks of writing morning pages to credit writing in my diary, and writing here, again.

I was doing a job for two weeks ending last Friday at an information kiosk at a shopping/office complex. No internet thank god, no reading, no nothing as I was on camera all the time. However nothing could stop me from my 3 pages. Sometimes it was inane, sometime super-productive. I set myself a schedule for the next three weeks, for example, which kicked me up a notch from the usual to-do list that I maintain. I was so proud of myself and so fired up, too. It’s had a lot to do with the success of this week, I’m sure!
I think for my next job, I should have a schedule like I did last week. I like feeling high-powered.
However this high-powered week with no dumb job, I have not really done morning pages. I’ve still written in my diary (morning pages kicked off that habit again), but not in the AM.
Started my journal in October and now its almost full—its a great physical reminder that change is possible. I was so stuck when I started. Now I see that I have made some progress.
JudithKD We aren't giving up on things anymore?
DH is back, things are (mostly) back to normal. We’ll see how I do with all my early a.m. appointments this week….

pages perhaps this morning (after I get some sleep). I have a 9 oclock appts Weds., Thurs., and Fri. this week. So, if I can manage to get up when I need to tomorrow and get the data preparation done and the morning pages done, then I will have certainly made a dent in the procrastinating habits I have in the early a.m.
We’ll see. If I don’t get to bed, I won’t wake up and then none of it will get done, and I’ll likely wake up right around the time my appointment is supposed to be.
Sigh.
Don’t ever learn that sleeping is a really GOOD way to avoid being in pain and other people. It’s a hard habit to break. I have a heck of a time going to sleep almost always. And, I’m not sure it didn’t just start so I had an excuse to just stay in BED!

Let’s hope I can get to where when I have an early morning appt. that they get done then too!
