How to draw a portrait.
How I did it: It was an assignment for art class to draw a black and white portrait of someone. I do consider myself an artist but I've never been one to be very good at drawing realistically. But for the class we were supposed to use a grid to duplicate the photo so that made it TONS easier. Definitely a cool way to get proportions right and that kind of thing. My drawing is pretty much one of my most prized possessions now :]
ps. props if you know who the portrait is of haha.
Lessons & tips: Don't try to get everything done in one day. This portrait took me about 3 months working on it for about an hour a day. You can always take a break and come back to it. It'll look better if you don't rush things.
Resources: Definitely couldn't have done it without the right pencils. I used two of them (not exactly sure of the name of the led). One was like an ebony dark one and one was really thin. And those rubber eraser things that you can mold and reshape helped soo much. I don't think I could have ever done any of the shadowing as well as I did without mine.
