live in a houseboat

I was reading a bio of Anais Nin by Dierdre Blair, and at one point she lived in a houseboat. It seems like an incredibly romantic thing to do for a year. For some reason, I imagine floating through various countries in Europe on this boat, although the geographic reality probably makes that an impossibility! Perhaps it would be easier to traverse the fjords of Norway?

Me and my man just moved onto a boat in October 2006. It is his familys and we are so lucky to be given this oppurtunity. It’s already saving us so much money in commodity bills. There is more involved to it trhan living in a normal house/flat, but it’s a brilliant challenge, hardly ever a chore. And if you find you don’t like your area or neuighbours, you dont have to sit it out, with things in boxes for 6 months… you just pull out and move on to some place nicer! :-)

the idea just has always appealed to me. i’d wanna do it for only a bit tho – such as during a summer
