Credit cards are a fact of today’s life…You find credit cards just everywhere: at stores, gas stations, enterntainment places, airports and railway stations… they are good as long as they do not swallow you up in debt. When I was in debt using my 2 Discover credit cards and one of the best airline credit cards, i felt like in heavy chains…when you can afford nothing extra and only working to avoid bankruptcy… now, as i’m off with my debts, i think, will i use it again? i can, only if i improve my spending habits first. 6 years ago
It’s been almost a year and I feel so much better. Just whip out the cold hard cash when I fill up at the pump. 7 years ago
most folks don’t use CC’s as a spending tool; they’re an ‘emergency fund’, something to use when the transmission goes out, the kids need shoes, or you need to stretch @ Christmas.
Thing is, these ‘emergencies’ are just life, so expect them. Save up $1000 in a liquid account that you can access is you need it, then just let it sit until an emergency arises.
Later on, when you’ve paid-off your credit cards, build up 3-6 months of expenses in a “super” emergency fund, and you’ll find you just don’t have emergencies anymore.

Credit cards are a trap. Banks want to own your soul. Credit cards will make your life hell. 7 years ago
