Bah 3 months ago

Had to cancel an appointment due to work and now bit of the tooth I was supposed to have filled has broken off grrrr... Hopefully there’ll be enough left to save when I go again in 11 days.

Mini-financial-timebombs 5 months ago

Mother finally dragged me to a dentist after she had to put up with my pathetic wailing when I got an abscess which was ‘orrible though amused everyone else when the pain went and my cheek swelled up like a demented hamster.
But yes, dentist. Nice bloke but expensive. Yup, private not NHS but I think it’ll be worth it seeing as most of the work needing doing is repairing what my last NHS dentist did! I’ve gotta have 5 teeth out (though 2 of ‘em don’t count as they’re wisdom) and 6 fillings. Ok, so most of the fillings are new work but all the rest are on already damaged teeth from the previous guy.
But oh the cost. It’s gonna be between £1000-£7000!! It all depends on what I have done to the missing teeth. The really expensive option is implants which I think I’ll have to by pass for now and settle for a couple of falseys at the back. Either way it’s gonna upset my goal of getting debt free for a wee bit.
After all my dedicated teeth brushing I’ve been told that it’s my diet that’s damaged them all. Sneaky, sneaky secondary factor scowl.

Keeping it simple.... 6 months ago

....I need the broken one gone and the rest whiter.

First stage – get rid of the broken one.

I've done it! 3 years ago

I think I can official say this is done now. I’ve had my last trip to the dentist, where I had a final filling and a scale and polish, and nothing more needs doing now. I’ve booked myself in for a check up in six months, and will now go regularly, but the hard part is done, I’m no longer terrified, and I have a good, solid set of teeth.

It is such a good feeling, this had been at the back of my mind for so long.

Well worth doing

Good progress 3 years ago

I think this can almost count as done now. I’ve been back several times to the dentist now, and have one more appointment booked, for a little filling and a big clean, and then I’ll be fixed. From then on it’s just regular check ups as normal.

This has been so worth it, not only can I chew my food better, I’ve also set my mind at rest about various concerns, and also it has spurred me on to do other things. I can’t wait to have them cleaned and feel more confident about my smile.

I did it! 3 years ago

Well, I went to the dentist, and I survived. And now I feel like a right overblown drama queen. It was unpleasant but not unbearable. I’m back again in three weeks to finish the treatment, and then I’m booking myself in to have everything checked out and see what other preventative work needs doing.

Strangely, getting going on this goal, the hardest one, has completely inspired me to do loads of other stuff, and I’m really energised and positive.

TOOTHACHE 3 years ago

It’s started, my chipped tooth is giving me pain, and toothache is terrible.

I’m determined to book an appointment tomorrow. My darling husband has offered to come with me and hold my hand.

Teeth and dentists 3 years ago

I haven’t been to a dentist since I was a child (apart from one brief trip to have a rotten tooth pulled out) and the state of my teeth has started to annoy me more and more over the years. So I’m going to get over my dentist phobia, and go and at least have all necessary work done so I can hang on to them for a few years yet. And then maybe I’ll be brave enough to get them straightened. First step is to book an appointment with a dentist and go and speak to him and explain why it is a big deal for me.
