be an english teacher

Yes, I really want to teach English to high school students. I love teaching so much; I just can’t explain it. We had to do a short grammar lesson in my English class a few days ago and I loved being up there in front of the class teaching about relative pronouns. :D

I get so excited about literature as well. And whenever I’m explaining something to a classmate, whether it be sentence diagrams, or vocab or something from the text, I get overly excited explaining it to them. I just love English and I love the feeling of teaching things!

I can honestly say that seeing the look on a child’s face after they finally understand what you were teaching them is one of the most rewarding things in life that I have come across so far.

It’s what I’m going to school for. So it should be a goal.

to go to college and be an English teacher! I just graduated high school, and I know it’ll take work, but God has planned for me to be an English teacher. I know He wants to use me to touch the lives of kids.

I have an interview with the Los Angeles Unified School District on May 7th. I take my cset on May 19th. WIth some studying and some charm, my next post will be…I DID IT!

Growing up I always wanted to be something “meaningful” so I naturally became serious about the medical field…one day it hit my like a sack of bricks I always deep down wanted to be an English teacher! Teaching the gift of voice? Not many professions are as “meaningful” as that!

lots of people think i’ve lost it when i say i want to be a high school english teacher. but it is my dream! i love writing and reading and teaching and helping others. it’s a god-given ability and someday i will achieve this goal!

Teaching writing is first about getting people to quit being scared of their English classes. It is about getting people to “write to learn” so they are learning to think creatively. It is not about direct grammar drills, giving you what you want, or about pet peeves that you might have because writing is your thing. Teaching writing is about helping people find their voice. It is about helping them find that magic that happens when you articulate what you think and find out what that is. It is about helping them break free of video culture and spend some time in their own minds.
