Deer is one of the best meats out there.
How I did it: I got a Utah tag, went hunting with my dad, never got a thing, felt really disappointed, went home, and ate the jerky we had made out of the one my dad shot. Mission Complete.
Lessons & tips: Don't bother hiking around all day when hunting, just watch a water hole at dawn and dusk.
Resources: Dad who's better at it than me.
Local meat processor.

I’ve eaten venison many times and in many forms: stew, jerky, steaks, raw (frozen strips, Siberian style), Chunks with vegies (Chinese style), etc. My last deer was up a jungle river on the island of Borneo (Iban headhunter style).
lulubell is a very bad 43thinger but if you PM me I will add you to facebook.
I’m not a meat person to begin with but my sister’s husband hunts (and they eat what he kills all year). I shoulda asked what kind of meat was in the spaghetti.
My uncle is a big time hunter. My sis and I lived with my aunt and uncle for a couple years, so we pretty much had it all… deer, moose, bear, rabbit(though they told us it was mexican chicken because otherwise we wouldn’t eat a ‘poor little bunny’). Some deer is good, some not so good. I guess it really depends on the area, what the deer usually eats, time of the year and so on.
My grandfather goes deer hunting every year so we’re always well stocked with venison. It’s pretty good, especially fried with eggs.
i’ve been eating it all my life. i live in south carolina for goodness sake – deer are overpopulated here and there are no limits to the amount you bag with exception of to every buck you must kill 2 does! its delicious and would choose a venison burger over mcdonalds ANYDAY!
I ate it in Hungary.it is not vey different fromm beef pnly a bit more difficult to chew and has less fat
I never really liked this, but I had to eat game meat when I was a kid. Wonder why I’m a vegetarisn…
i hated it…sorry to all those who want to stab me in the jaw right now…but…i’ve had it a lot. family=hunters, and venison, it just isn’t for me.
I grew up in PA too. It’s almost expected that you’ll eat deer meat at least once if you come from this area. When it’s done well, it’s very good.
