kchic8005 is living life

Nordic Mountain 15 months ago

...Is pretty much nothing compared to the big-wig stuff. But I want to get really good (like 360’s and everything). Only draw-back is that I live in Texas and hardly ever visit my family up north when it is snowing.

Off to a good start... 21 months ago

So about a month ago, I acquired a free snowboard from a coworker (155cm Alice White Chardonnay)... and some hand-me-down bindings, and some donated boots a friend got me at a used gear shop. I have been up every weekend since the Mt. Baker Banked Slalom, and even though the board is WAY too big for me (about 11cm) and the bindings don’t fit my boots (I think mens M-L, I should go for a womens S-M), I am getting pretty good at controlling the board, I can even jib a little :)

Hopefully soon I’ll feel comfortable doing decent jumps, and then I can start working on tricks.

And the 08/09 snowboards are coming out in a few months, from what I saw at the Holy Oly on Saturday, Lib is coming out with a wider range of Skate Bananas. I’m a 144, so even if the smallest size is a 148, I’ll still probably jump on it, because it would still be smaller and lighter than the board I have now. I might spring for a Gnu with Banana Tech, but only if it doesn’t have shitty girly graphics. Ugh.

Maybe they’ll come out with a new box scratcher!

...maybe I should stop concentrating on kissing boys on the lift and put that energy into my shredding skills…maybe :)

This is my second year snowboarding…I’m finding it very difficult. I know practice makes perfect, but I’d like to be able to turn and maybe not roll down the hill so much. =P

It doesn't snow here. 2 years ago

So I snowboarded once. It was fun. I didn’t suffer any drastic, damaging falls, and sliding down the practice hill was amusing.

But I live pretty far from a snowy area. And it’s the middle of summer at the moment. I don’t really see myself making it to the snow when it isn’t summer this year, either. Temporarily giving up.

New Snowboard! 2 years ago

I’m one step closer to improving my snowboarding! After years of using a crappy used board, I have upgraded at last to an Arbor women’s board. Bonus: the board is topped with bamboo – added flexibility and sustainability. And I got K2 bindings. Better equipment = better boarder. :)

I tried snowboarding on a ski trip with school years ago but I’d love to be able to ride a rail by the time I go on my next ski trip in December! I can already ride switch so I’m dead proud of that! :P

this is tricky for me, since i live in phoenix. it’s a big ordeal to get up to the mountains where there’s actually snow! haha!

i tried snowboarding for the first time last year and immeadiately fell in love. unfortunately it was towards the end of the season and that was the only time i went. so this season i would like to really learn how to ride well. get off the easy trails. unfortunately in NE our winter has been sucking. went for the first time this winter on thursday though and already see and improvement from last year. goin again on tuesday and cant wait!

no snowboarding this winter :( 3 years ago

Im super sad I can’t go at all this winter. I just learned how to do it last winter, and was really looking forward to going again. Im 6 months pregnant, and I have very little balance. I think even if I had amazing balance, I wouldnt risk it. Besides, I cant count how many times I fell on my belly last year…and its not real snow, so its basically a sheet of ice. I guess theres always next year!
