basically the idea is to play with colors: create all kinds of green, purple etc; paint wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet. At this stage composition, and whether it looks realistic, are not important.
So, this is the result, just copying from the book and having a lot of fun.

I recently bought a book entitled “A year in Japan” by Kate T. Williamson, and it has really got me excited to try my hand in watercolors. I have no painting experience what so ever, so I don’t have really high expectations for my results, but the most important thing to me is to try! I have bought a small watercolor kit, so my journey is about to begin. If any of my paintings turn out to be presentable, I will post them on here. Good luck to everyone else! noahsan
Ive always loved painting, though none of my paintings are ever “good”, they dont look right and they only make me angry. So this time I want to invest the time to learn! Im asking for paints for Christmas, and Im going to find some inspiration
I had a lot of free time when I lived in Saudi and I watercolored A LOT!!!
I was all hyped up to start this Saturday. :( Looks like I will have to wait till next term, or just continue to learn on my own…
I just enrolled in an 9 week water colour painting class at a near by art studio. It starts on 22nd of July.
Here’s my adaptation of the “collector” (minus the actually colletor elf LOL)
The flowers/mushrooms and butterflies at the back are done with watercolour pencils, where as only the Faery at the centre was done with water colours, to make it stand out. The wings were also done with glitters.
Edit: Did an inked outline.
I am working on an adaptation of http://www.cartuneland.com/Pages/Collector.html to try out water coloring techniques.
