I have always wanted to shave my head and saw a tiny clip about doing it for charity in a article. I am very excited about it and think I will after my husband I havent seen in a year comes home on leave, and that gives me time to find a charity and get some donations I guess, and then I can be bald after he goes back to work, then I will have hair by the time he comes back.
How to shave my head for charity
How I did it: my cousin who is studying medicine had recently commited to go to malawi to give medical aid for 3 months. i decided to raise a little money with a head shave. my friends and family were gob-smacked because i have been growing it for 3 years. i talked to a few of the local pubs to get a location and some of the local stores for support. i have to say that everyone i talked to was very supportive and alot of the stores donated prizes for a raffle that we held on the same night for the same cause. raised over €600.
Lessons & tips: -it was a hell of alot of fun
-hair grows back
-shops are always looking for good press
Resources: couldnt have done it without the support of my friends and family

It feels awesome, and it’s even more awesome to know that I made over £400 for Kith and Kids :D
Donations are still open until mid-October.

I’ve beaten my £300 target! With tax returns included, I’ve raised over £400 so far! I’ll be doing this at the Summer Camp, even though I don’t have the time to volunteer there… I will ask a friend to drive me down for the day and make it a wonderful event :D
The fundraising head of K&K gave me a free baseball cap today…. preparation is good!

Two people from a messageboard I use online have donated to my page tonight. I’ve never met these people, and all they have to go by is what I’ve said about Kith&Kids and how awesome it is. These people will never get the chance to laugh at my shorn head in person, but they donated anyway.
There’s a glimmer of hope for the human spirit…

One week since I set up the donation page, and I’ve made £55 in pledges and over another £10 in tax-return gifts to the charity! This is fantastic… I feel a little bad for asking my friends to donate, but if I kept this to inside the charity then it’d be just volunteers (who give up lots of their free time for the projects) giving their money also, which seems a little unfair.
I shall keep spamming people. I’ll have no friends left by August ;)

I’ve had shaved sides before, when I had silly dreadlocks, and then a mohawk…but this shall be the year I actually go all the way. I have to wait until after the 8th of August, so I don’t detract attention from my beautiful friend when I’m her bridesmaid, so I think I’ll wait until the end of that month… at the end of K&K camp (the charity I volunteer for), and set up a pledge sheet so we can raise funds from it. Last Easter project, a friend who had really long hair shaved his head for the charity, and raised over $400. A good cause and something I’ve wanted to do for 5 years. Excellent!
I’ve had all different kinds of hairstyles and cuts. From shaved down with no clip to down past my shoulders.
So after thinking about how to raise money for a local non-profit org, i decided to do it again.. and for a great cause.
The goal is 5K. we’ll see what happens.
Head Shaving is set for Sept 15, 2007.

Well, my hair is all gone. It’s been about 3 days since I shaved my head and it has been a total eye-opening experience!! People look at me in one of two ways. Either with pity because they think I’m ill, or with contempt because they think I’m a freak. I never really thought about my hair as a part of me. I really don’t miss it either. It’s ccol though. I can’t tell you how many times I have been accused of “Brittany-envy”, and that freakin’ sucks! Oh well. Lol, have a nice day!
I have registered for the St.Baldricks event in Avon, NY at the Avon Corn Festival in August! I am so stoked! Lol. It seems so far away, but I figure that gives me some time to work on donations. I will post updates every now and then to note my progress. My fundraising target is $175.00, please wish me luck!!
