"It was expensive but totally worth seeing a jolly wise soul like him in person."
How I did it: Every once in a while for the past year, I googled "Dalai Lama New York tour". One day, my googling prooved to be lucrative! He was scheduled to speak on the four noble truths at Radio City Music Hall! The cheapest tickets available to non-Tibetans were 80-something dollars (or more!). I bought the tickets online, right away!
Lessons & tips: Meet your heroes. If they're still living, google them often. Don't be afraid to spend a bit of money to see them speak/perform. It's totally worth it, just to share a few moments in their inspiring presence.
