I've wanted to do this 6 months ago

for as long as I can remember.

Made the Dean's List 1 year ago

Well, my first quarter at Louisville Tech I made the Dean’s list by getting a 4.0. Now if I can just continue to get A’s for the 7 quarters.

The start of another year 2 years ago

I got some scholarships – 1,600$ in all. Woohoo! I wish I had applied for more. I’m a Golden Key Honour Society member now, so to make the best use of it I’ll be applying for scholarships like woah. At least I don’t have to worry about it right away – I can use the next couple of months to get some letters of recomendation from, oh, anybody who will give them to me.

Year 1, done! 2 years ago

Yeehaw! Year 1 of University is now under my belt. The lowest mark I got for anything was an A-, and I’m a little embarrassed to have done so well on it considering how little brain power I devoted to it. I wrote the paper between taking service calls at work in a weekend. Also I have a sneaky suspicion that I lost most of my marks on having screwed up footnoes. D’oh!

Over the next little while my marks will start rolling in. I hope I’ll be able to maintain my current GPA (4.2) but as long as that first digit is a “4” I’ll be happy. :-)

Still making progress! Can you blame me for wanting to brag about this? 2 years ago

I had my exam in Pop Music today – the history and social whatsit thereof. Very fun, very interesting, and holy crap my hand still hurts after three solid hours of writing. Sheesh. I felt great about it, though – I’m confident that I got an A. It would be really, really hard for me not to have gotten an A. (Please, please let me get an A. I’ll be good, I promise.)

So before we started the exam my prof took a minute to address the class. Out of 90-odd final essay papers, see, about a third of them had no citation whatsoever, or incorrect citation that would basically amount to plagiarism. Not good. Because my prof is a great and benevolent being, he’s therefore giving the whole class the chance to revise their papers later in the month.

Which is pretty cool. I will admit that the cogs in my head started turning, wondering if I could scrounge up a few extra marks. (Being paranoid I couldn’t help but wonder if I’d screwed up my citation somehow and thus doomed myself to Academic Hell.)

When he was handing me an extra exam booklet, he whispered:

“I read your essay. Don’t worry about it.”

Which made me happy, and also made me wonder whether my thoughts are branded on my forehead or something.

Three hours and a cramped hand later, I handed in my exam. I made some silly comment about having just barely avoided giving him four booklets. He nodded, then leaned over and, in a conspiratorial whisper, said:

“I don’t want you to revise your essay. I gave you an A+.”

So I said something like, “Oh. Good to know.” And floated out of the class on a fluffy white cloud.

I spent a good chunk of the last five or six years convincing myself that I wasn’t particularly bright. Looks like grade school is coming back to haunt me.

Woo! 2 years ago

That’s what I have now. I seriously hope I don’t screw it up with my AP class. I’ve been okay so far - 98% first semester - but it does make me nervous!

I only have to finish this semester and squeak through my fall semester next year - spring doesn’t count, woo! - and yay! 4.0!

So far... 2 years ago

I only have 2 more years of high school to go, and I have successfully maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout all of my years so far! =)

It's very much so worth it! 3 years ago

There aren’t too many things that are as rewarding as this.
It’s totally worth it.

Two more A's for the books 3 years ago

Well, I just got my term grades. I got two A’s (we take 2 classes / term, each lasting only 8 weeks), though one of the A’s was a squeaker at 92%. I’m hanging onto that 4.0. Just two semesters until graduation.
