Since I’ve added this goal, I’ve had bad luck with money/bills. Am I attracting having less money by living like I have less money?? Because I’m a huge believer in LOA, I’m not keeping this goal. Living below my means seems be attracting less money and more bills to where I HAVE to spend less. No thank you :-/

Ok, so I just tried to download some music at work to listen to and I had forgot to update my card info with iTunes! Thank goodness, I would’ve spent an unnecessary $8. I initially thought only buying the songs I wanted, instead of the whole album, was living below my means until now. $8 dollars saved! :-)

Done:
- Reduced minutes on calling plan…saving approx. $50+/mo
- Canceling Gym membership that I don’t use (after early cancellation fee, saving approx $20/mo)
Goals:
- Canceling Netflix June 7th (end of billing period)...saving $14/mo
- Limiting grocery bill to $25/week
- Giving myself $50/wk allowance cash…grocery bill and $10/wk parking included in figure
- In relation to the above, carrying only my lowest apr/limit card with me in case of emergency, leaving all other cards at home
- No spending at work
- No spending on clothes until I lose weight or sale the clothes I can no longer fit
- Not buying anymore books until I’ve read the ones I have

Where to Trim
My current budget is allowing us to rapidly pay down our debt while putting a small amount of money away for vacations & emergencies.
My husband is working to reduce/eliminate his smoking, which will free up money. Our only other non-essentials are books, music CDs, & movie DVDs. We have no cable or satellite TV costs.
We have the privilege of living in Europe for a few years, so we want to make the most of our traveling opportunities. However, this year has seen some large auto repair expenditures, which is eating away our savings. That’s making it harder to not pull out the credit cards

Definitely harder than it sounds. We want it all and no debt. It doesn’t work like that for most of us, or at least not in that order. Once I finish school in 2 years (hopefully), we can really concentrate on living below our means and not week to week.

harder than expected. After living in Miami Beach for 7 years I’ve learned to live way beyond my means. Going to be hard trying to try it the other way around.

It’s definitely worth it until we get completely out of debt. Then, when we’re ready to live in line with our means, we’ll be doing it with total financial freedom. :)

but right now, due to some personal issues, i am spending more money than usual. Legal separation underway which had to happen so I will just try to carefully and wisely choose where my money should go. The Invisible Fence, for example, was a must. Now that I work fulltime, my pooch needs to be able to roam as freely and safely as possible when I get home and let him out to play.
Laptop crashed so many times that I had to get a home PC as a backup. Glad I did it because it was affecting my performance at work. I am still catching up but I will get there soon.
Trying to eat in more as well. Made a lovely dish for my children of a very healthy, mostly organic, “picnic inspired” platter. They ate and we talked and it was such a simple pleasant meal. Not much clean up and healthy left over for lunch the next day…
