He can’t hold his own head up quite yet, but his eyes were everywhere, exploring the different environment as best he could. He seemed especially attentive to his mom’s voice and nearness—he’d get still and look for her. A big smile was evident when he heard the voice of one of his frequent visitors (an “aunt”, formerly a nurse who is very comfortable with babies). I held him at lunch time but thought of him the rest of the day. I think I’m in love! :)
How to hold a baby
How I did it: My friend invited me over to her house. She just had a baby three months ago so I was able to hold her and play with her when she woke up. It was so much fun :)

A week ago today. I haven’t seen him in person yet, just an emailed photo. It was a C-section delivery, so his head wasn’t squeezed out of shape—he’s very cute.
And I’m so delighted for her! It’s going to be fun to watch her step into that new role. AND, I definitely want to hold the baby after it’s born! :)
i haven’t done this. so i don’t want it to be just anyone’s baby (not that just anyone should give ppl their baby to hold).
Lainko is.
I remember holding my old baby sitter’s baby. I forget his name, but I remember holding him and the softness of the blue clothing he was wearing and the smell of baby powder. This is an extremely powerful memory for me- I remember holding him, and feeling like he’d fall apart if I moved the wrong way, even an inch.
I also felt this strange sense of protectiveness, and I think I scratched the surface of what a true guardian feels for their charge.
This is coming from someone that can’t stand human offspring of any nature, whatsoever.
Which I don’t really remember. I saw a mom holding a brand new baby at the library so I guess that was what inspired the dream.

Holding a baby was worth it, even when I got spit-up on.
There was a paucity of burp rags around, so it could have been a bit neater, but oh well. I have had my baby fix for a while!

I don’t have any children, but lately I have missed the peace of holding a quiet baby…I used to babysit my niece, who just graduated from Kindergarten. So I know that holding a baby can also mean spit-up, screaming in your face, pulling your hair, etc….:-)
But I miss holding a baby when they are all snuggly and sweet. I think I will get to hold my great-nephew at the family vacation on the fourth of July. I can’t wait! I am hoping it will quell my maternal instincts for a while.
