We have 2 Kids. A 3yr old and an 8 month old. Both boys. I work the 1st shift at my job, and my wife works the 3rd shift at hers. WE HAVE GOT TO GET THIS PLACE IN ORDER!
How to develop a cleaning routine and keep my house clean
How I did it: I didn't really. I tried; sometimes I failed, sometimes I didn't. I now have a routine though. Now I want to switch my focus from having a clean house to having a warm and inviting home.
When I am old, wrinkly and 'circling the drain' of life I can't imagine looking back and thinking - I wish I spent more time with the hoover. I do however hope that I think "I'm glad I felt comfortable inviting friends or family over " I want to remember dinner parties, film nights, intense scrabble battles on the sofa, weekend guests and laughing over cups of peppermint tea - not going to happen if the house is a health and safety hazard and buried under three foot of unopened mail, dirty plates and littered with washing.
Lessons & tips: Make it work for you. Don't obsess about it.

I just recently joined FlyLady and despite the thirty emails or so I receive everyday, I do enjoy receiving reminders, support, and inspiration to take “baby steps” towards keeping our house clean and orderly!
I love the Morning Routine and of course the Shine your Sink principle!!!!
Let’s see how long I can stick with it!
Anyone else out there doing FlyLady?
cincygal I'm doing paperwork.
Started following Flylady years ago, but I still need to declutter – big time. There’s so much paper around here – files of stuff, stacks of paper, too much, too much! My home looks good, but it could be better, much better. Now, let’s see…what should be thrown out today?
We had people over for dinner last night and didn’t even have to worry about cleaning up the house before they came because it was already clean. I just love it!
It was so nice to come back home this morning and find a clean house instead of a big mess!
Yay, I cleaned the fridge today AND tossed all the food that has gone bad or that we’re not eating anymore. There’s lots of space now!
I’m so proud of myself!
We just came back from a weekend trip and instead of just leaving the half-packed bags sitting on the floor for the next few weeks I actually unpacked everything right away and put it back on their places. It even felt great, although I definitely had enough exercise earlier today.
Jon is in the same mood and voluntarily started the washing machine.
Looks like we’re really getting better at this.
The house is so nice and clean now.
The next task will be to organize and clean up the closets so if we open the doors stuff won’t come flying at us…
I went to flylady.com and signed up for the newsletter.
The task for the first day was “Go shine your sink” which I did.
I actually ended up cleaning the whole kitchen and feel pretty good about it.
The goal is to keep it shiny by drying it out after each time I use it and making sure when I go to bed that it is shining so it will make me smile in the morning.
... right after getting up.
That might also be a good time to clean up the bedroom.
