MicroWhisperIt's a start

I’m getting totally fed up with how untidy my house is. In fact, over the past few weeks, I’ve been feeling like different aspects of my life are a bit too chaotic for my likening and my to-do lists seem to be growing and getting unmanageable. SO I am taking charge and this is one of the first things that must be handled.
I decided to work out a scheduled that I feel is kind of doable… my aim is to do housework for 1-1.5 hours/day, with a free day on Saturdays. My minimum goal is to do all the daily chores, and then try to get in as many of the room-specific tasks as possible.
We’ll see how it goes tonight!

WEDNESDAY:

LIVING ROOM/DINING ROOM
• Dust/clean surfaces
• Dust/clean baseboards and corners
• Dust ceiling fans, light fixtures
• Clean cushions on couch
• Kill cobwebs

DAILY:
1. One load of laundry- 15 mins
a. wash & hang
b. fold & put away
2. Load & unload dishwasher – 5 mins
3. Wipe down kitchen – 5 mins
4. Make bed – 5 mins
5. Vacuum – 10 mins
a. downstairs
b. upstairs
6. Quick wipe down of bathrooms – 5 mins
7. Tidy – 5 mins 6 months ago

kitalynnI suppose I'll check this as completed...

...even though I basically cheated. My husband and I hired a housekeeper earlier this year. She comes twice a month and it’s totally worth it since we both work full time.

Should have hired someone years ago…

Our house is still more cluttered than I’d ideally like, but at least the bathrooms and kitchen aren’t gross anymore! 16 months ago

Karen KellyI'm doing this on a "regular basis".

To make sure I “stay on track” I write down my tasks in a small spiral notebook with my “to do’s” and check them off one by one. I also list my tasks over on a Yahoo Groups site called Cleaning_House. I’ve developed some special friendships from the Cleaning_House group. Some of us are also on Facebook. We offer each other encouragement and support as we make progress. My daily list includes: Breakfast, cleanup, emails, make bed, put clothes away, trash to compactor, usually a load of laundry, etc. I often do cleaning in the late afternoon – dust all through the entire house with a feather duster (from Flylady.net) and then the next couple of days I sweep the floors and rugs. To make life even easier I now have a cleaning team that comes in to do the bathrooms and two kitchens (this is a big long ranch – an old and new kitchen – from adding on). 17 months ago
