Broken tooth
Had no choice but to go to an emergency dentist on Thursday as mu front tooth broke in half. The treatment only lasted 3 days and it’s broke in half again! So have to make another appointment.
I guess I can wright this one off because when it comes down to an emergency there is fear but I’m happy to get it sorted, all I really need to do is register with a dentist and go to appointments regularly and I sholdn’t end up with having to arrange emergency appointments!

I’m not proud by any means to admit that my fear of dentists along with being an adult and making my own (sometimes foolish) choices resulted in my putting off that checkup for 23 years. I’ve thought about getting to the dentist, made it a goal in prior years and never quite got to it. Thank goodness I’ve been blessed with strong teeth and my mother taught me to brush every day or I’m afraid I wouldn’t have any teeth at all.
My wife finally made the appointment for me and told me when and where to show up. I was scared to death of what I’d be told: “you have 12 cavities we need to fill” or “we’re going to have to do periodontal surgery to replace your missing gums.”
Nonetheless, I figured if I was going to have any hope for teeth later in life, I’d better make the trip to the dentist.
Result: no cavities and a thorough teeth cleaning which I’m afraid was quite a chore for the hygenist.
My goal: never miss a 6 month checkup again. Never let the checkup go so long that I begin fretting on what the dentist will find.

It helps, of course, that my dentist is MADE OF SEXY.

ROCKS.
Anyone live in or near Richmond BC? Try out http://www.ironwooddental.com/home.asp if you like the sounds of amazing professional women (all women office) who give you a heated neckwrap during your cleaning as well as a parafin wax hand treatment during your cleaning – all included in their regular competitive prices.
Upon leaving I got a lovely little bag with my usual toothbrush, floss and toothpaste in it, plus lip balm! Mmmm!
Now, technically they’re also top notch. Initial visit is a full series of high-res dental photos to keep in your file, an oral scan for mouth cancer with this new (invented in BC!) ultraviolet light scanner and a full dental review and measurement of your gums.
The cleaning was great, the hygienists were gentle but efficient and they were keeping an eye on my breathing (I forget to breath and then pass out when I sit up… stupid fear). They also specialize in restorative dentistry so I’m getting all my old (15-20 yr) loose amalgam fillings replaced and I can have them match my teeth.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to my next cleaning and I NEVER thought I’d say that before!
