seriously its bad enough that people think your smart but to defy them that you are not is horible 4 years ago
With the help of my good friend and math genius, I found the correct solution to a very difficult calculus problem today. It took us the entire class period to find the answer, and we were so excited when we checked our answer and found that it was right, we started laughing and high-fiving. Dorky? Hell yeah. But wow, it feels good to understand what’s going on in calculus class.
I just did an hour of homework for that class and understood it so well that I didn’t even mind doing it. I’m actually excited for class tomorrow to show what I figured out in my homework. Now I remember why I used to love math. 4 years ago
is a tad unconventional.
He doesn’t believe in homework or lesson plans or structure in general. He knows his stuff and he’s good at explaining problems, but I want structure! We come into class and work on problems and ask him for help when we need it. We have quizzes every Friday, but we’re allowed to retake quizzes as many times as we want to get a grade we’re satisfied with. Sounds good. Problem? My thought process every Thursday night is as follows:
“Maybe I should look over the Calculus notes.”
“It doesn’t matter. I can just retake it.”
“Yeah, but I don’t know how to do a single problem.”
“Oh well. I can just retake it.”
My last quiz was so bad, he didn’t even grade it. He just wrote “YUCK” at the top of the paper. The first real test is tomorrow…and we can’t retake those. Time for some real motivation! 4 years ago
Ultimately I got a C in the first semester, but I did pass the AP test without even taking the second semester of the class which is all that matters to me.

So I thought maybe second semester would be different … but I got a C. It’s an honors credit so it’s actually a B… but still, it’s not an A.
I’m enrolled in advanced calculus next year, the class is a lot smaller and the teacher doesn’t SUCK, so hopefully I’ll do better. 4 years ago
So today is the day before my calculus final. and I’m getting a C. theres always next semster. but I just want to prove to myself that this can actually be done. I know I can do it this time, I just need some motivation. 5 years ago
but then i love math.
all about understanding the concepts and forgetting the logical steps.
