I remember making peanut butter cookies with my mom. Now my oldest one and her sister bake cookies with my granddaughter.
Yesterday, I was really bored, so I printed out a recipe for an apple pie, and I just went to my kitchen and made it from fresh ingredients. By the time I was done, it was 10:00 and I was covered in sticky dough, I had flour all over my clothes and my face, I had digested about 5 pounds of sugar, and the kitchen was a mess. BUT IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! And the apple pie was amazing. If you’ve never made something from scratch you have to try it! I’m bringing over a friend next weekend and we’re gonna make chocolate cookies from scratch! That’ll be fun!
The experience, the smells, even the mess, all worth it!
And being able to help your own little ones with the whole experience, priceless!
(I know I sound like a freakin commercial)
i mean, it’s all the fun of trashing your kitchen, getting your hair full of flour, and gorging yourself on sugary fatty food rolled into one! i’ve made lemon squares, thumbprint cookies with raspberry jam, and tollhouse chocolate chip cookies from scratch so far and they all turned out TERRIFIC. yummmmmm. i love baking cookies. i always have new pecipies to try out. <3
I do this at least once a month. Warm cookies fresh from the oven, cookies you made yourself (or with the help of your kids) is simply devine.
I did it! I finally made them! yes! chocolate chip brownie cookies! I wonder if they count? Well they turned out delicious! yay! was terrific! Never seen cookies eaten so eagerly! . I’m so proud!

so much better than store-bought ones…if you get a good recipe, and follow it exactly until you have it down they’re good. another good tip is to cover them with a cloth napkin or something to keep in the warmth when you take them out of the oven, and they get soft as they’re cooling.
