for a long time I have had a romantic fantasy of running a small hotel. it could be anywhere in the world really, but I would want it to be a special place for my guests. a second home, and as much a part of the experience as the site itself. an everchanging hotel, changing with each guest that passes through, and maybe even changing them a little.
I really like meeting new people and listening to their stories, and I am curious about all the different persons that would come through my hotel. I love the idea of all the strangers being in the same place for one night. All the stories under one roof. Some may be intertwined and some never touch. Maybe old lovers cross paths or new love is kindled, two persons pass in the hall not knowing that they will become friends five years down the road, a treasure map changes hands, fate bring long lost friends together or maybe a mystery is solved.
My friend called me yesterday, in the middle of the night, to tell me that he wanted to start a small hotel in Rio De Janeiro together with me, and that has at least rekindled an old love of mine. The love of a small imaginary hotel where I welcome my guests and watch stories unfold.
