Stephen20 Postcards sent!

It took a bit longer to send my last 5 postcards, but they have all been received and my goal is complete!

16. Felipe Brazil 62 days
17. Katy Russia 80 days
18. Tatiana Russia 39 days
19. Esther Germany 47 days
20. Shuyao China 66 days

Shuyao asked for cards showing our local cuisine, so I could not help but send a Postcard from the very first McDonald’s in the world which was in San Bernardino, California. It has been a fun goal to complete! 11 months ago

StephenNew postcrossing goal

Even through I haven’t received a single card yet from postcrossing, I enjoy looking for the cards, thinking of things to write, and sending them out. It has been a lot of fun so I will continue on this goal to join the other 23 people doing this goal! 18 months ago

tokyojupiterRussia, Ohio, Russia

I wonder how postcrossing got to be so popular in Russia. I’ve sent 4 postcards to Russia so far, that’s twice as much as any other country on the list, including the US!

TashaBlueFinally sent my first 5 this week!

So, I hope in a week or two I will start getting notices that they’ve been received, so I can send more. :) I felt awkward filling them out, but fortunately there’s not too much space, so it was over quickly. ;) 1 year ago

I need to take a walk down to Chinatown today and see if I can get more (touristy) NY postcards. More than getting mail, I really like reading the short snippets that people write.

Plorange20 Post Cards Sent

So my 20th post card has been mailed. I have received 21 post cards. Eventhough my goal has been completed I’m going to continue to send postcards with Post Crossing. It has been so great getting and send post cards. I love reading about the people sending me their cards. 2 years ago

tokyojupitervirginia, netherlands, belarus

Received my first postcard last week; it was from a nice lady in Seattle.

Really, the best part of this project is receiving something in the mail. No matter what you say about the digital age and the phasing out of paper, there remains a thrill to opening your mailbox knowing that you’re holding something that came from another person hundreds or thousands of miles away…

Writing these postcards has also inspired me to take up another smallish goal: to start writing short phrases in French. Most of the people who’ll be receiving my postcards speak/write French more so than English. I took French in high school (and spoke it poorly when I visited Paris 2x) so this may be a fun experiment to see if I can still remember enough to write on a postcard.

tokyojupiterrussia, germany, maryland

whoever thought up postcrossing is a genius. i have wanted to do a postcard exchange for what feels like forever, but it’s just so difficult finding people who’d be willing to do trades with.

it’s also sort of interesting to look for postcards that best represent new york city. my first batch of postcards are the stereotypical new york skyline types… i think i may have even needed to look closer since i think a couple of them even have the wtc towers pictured. d’oh. but maybe the next cards i buy will be more neighborhood oriented ones—i’d love to have postcards for brooklyn or queens or something.
