I want to go to a Portland State Vikings home game in PGE Park. I’m definitely not a sports person, but we get free tickets. I’m worried that since I work on the weekends, I won’t be able to see one this season.

i love football and i love to see it live. i may get my chance sooner the i know it. my best friend may take me to see the carolina panthers play when i move up there soon!
And by “football”, I mean the game that is in some unenlightened ;) parts of the world known as “soccer”. :)
Btw, I was a bit worried about violence on the stands, but everything was fine. I went with a friend (so, two girls and no male escorts ;)), and it was funny how polite and attentive all the guys were. I mean, one moment they’re screaming and hurling insults and death threats at the referee, the next moment they’re apologizing profusely for having stepped on my toes for a moment. :))
What a wonderful experience. Non-league football – lots of running and shouting, lots of goals, and being so close to the action. I think I might repeat this some time.
Saw the local team play, and took a few photos (gallery here)
A cup of tea in the clubhouse before the game, standing by the dugouts to hear the managers shouting at the teams, hot chocolate at half time to thaw out. Good fun!
I didn’t go to the match on the 10th because my friends couldn’t make it but a couple of them said they’d definitely come it it was a different date.
So we’re going on Saturday 24th March to see Loughborough Dynamo play Stratford Town at home. Go Dynamo!
(Incidentally, they beat Oadby Town 2-0)
It appears that the match is this Saturday. So… just to find out if any of my friends want to come along, and I’m there!
Loughborough Dynamo vs. Oadby Town
Sounds like it’s going to be an great match! (There may be a hint of irony there!)... but as my friend said who challenged me, you can go to a premiership game and it can be boring, and you’ll be much more severely out of pocket that way.
I will have an open mind as much as I can!
There’s a home game against the home-town of someone I know. They’re both tiny teams, and I don’t really care who wins, but it might be fun to watch!
I also found out that the home team was founded at the school I went to… which is funny because soccer has always been banned at the school (rugby only!). Well, in our games lessons, we were the rubbish players, so we used to sneak off to the furthest field and the teacher used to smuggle a soccer ball and we’d have a great time.
Seems the tradition goes back a long way!
The same guy who challenged me to watch 5 cult films decided that I was doing so well in my challenge that he’d issue me another – to go to a football match (we’re talking soccer here).
He says I’m allowed to see my local team, and he’ll go with me. Also if I take my camera, there’s a chance I can sell my photos to the a newspaper he knows who are always on the lookout for shots.
I can’t really turn it down, having never been to a game before.
I guess it’s a little pathetic that I hadn’t gone to one until now in my senior year, but whatever. I had a lot of fun though and decided if I was gonna go I was gonna be crazy and have a great time, so I met up with some friends there and then got painted and everything (although I did keep my shirt on so I didnt go completely crazy) and just screamed until my voice went hoarse. We ended up losing 19-0 but if you looked at the game, the teams were actually fairly matched, we just got a bit sloppy. It’s ok though, we really never win but it didn’t mean we had any less fun =P.
