Removing this goal from my list – it was fun to play with for a while, but I’ve decided it’s more important to me to lighten my impact on the environment, and I don’t like the thought of washing all the chemicals associated with hair dying down the sink on a regular basis (tried organic dies – not strong enough for hair as dark as mine).

So for now, I’m enjoying my natural hair colour. ;-)

—> Dragon attack, aren’t those colors fluid? can you mix them that easily? i want a kind of pinkish-purple, so mixing is probably my only choice but i just wasn’t sure if that works that well with fluid hair dyes as it does with the powder ones…

I used Raw Color Deep purple, and my hair is VIOLENTLY purple. When I go outside, it’s like Barney grew fur and used alot of shine treatment on it. I love it.

If you mix Raw Deep Purple [it’s like 13 dollars at Hot Topic, I’m not sure about prices elsewhere] and any pink [I used Atomic Pink by….I don’t remember or have it handy…it’s in an application bottle looking container…it’s REALLY pink, and also 13 dollars] then it won’t fade nearly as fast, and when it does, it will fade to a nice pinky color instead of a funky red or blonde color.

I bleached my hair slightly first…I wasn’t platinum blonde, but my hair is naturally almost black, so I had to lighten it some. I also put it over a redish tone i had in my hair for a while, and it worked over that.

If it’s on your entire head, or going to be touching your neckline, I’d advise washing all the dye out, then shampooing it slightly, then conditioning it ALOT, because otherwise you’ll be purple for the 24 hours before your next hair-washing shower. I found that out the hard way.

My hair is purple now, and I like it alot :]

Hope I helped you guys!
[the picture I included is a pretty bad picture of me, but this is the not vibrant version of the color…i was inside in a dark room lol]

I used to use Wella ColorCharm 4V, but I can never find that anymore. :( It came out very dark at first, then would lighten to a burgundy/plum. It stayed in nicely, and didn’t stain my skin. Now that I can’t find that, I’ve used:

Manic Panic Deadly Nightshade and Purple Haze mixed together.
This combo looked awesome after I dyed it, but faded UBER fast. Not too much skin staining, because I put moisturizer around my hairline and on my ears.

Plum Herbatint Permanent hairdye
This one was very runny and smelled awful. Faded very quickly. I also bought the Violet one but haven’t used it.

Clairol Color Flirt in some kind of purple color
It was a mousse and very easy/fun to apply. Gave a nice shiny light purple color. Faded quickly. Can’t find it anymore.

Splat! hair color in Lusty Lavender
Stained everything! I was violet all over. Again, it didn’t last long at all. My boyfriend said it gave the best color, though.

So, all in all, I’m still searching for a perfect purple. You know, something that keeps my hair violet and not just my bath tub. :/ Sigh.

I have dyed my hair purple and it looked really good. It wasnt burgundy but it was purple. I loved it and it did get lots of attention. I want to do it again!

Good Permanent Purple Hair Dye 2 years ago

I stock up when I am in Europe. It is a great color and it doesn’t fade super fast. People often stop me and ask what color is is and where can they get some.

Wicked Violet - Strike..? 4 years ago

For a belated birthday treat I was taken to a local hairdressers disturbingly named ‘Chainsaw Massacre’, where a very opinionated hairdresser gave me a new cut and applied a professional colour called ‘Wicked Violet’ (I must find out the brand…).

The results are intriguing. Doesn’t really strike out on this goal, since my hair definitely isn’t burgundy, though it’s not what I was expecting either. In lots of light, it’s bright red – in other lighting conditions it’s dark brown, or honest-to-goodness purple. So still not quite what I was after, but I’m very excited by the colour changing properties anyway.

Advice from the professional was: because of the darkness of my hair, only red-tinted colours will have any chance at permanancy on it. While I could use bleach and then a proper purple, the purple would likely fade and leave the bleached bits looking very ugly.

I’m inclined to believe her for now, though I may try for a professional second opinion at a later date. For now, I’m quite enjoying my hair as it is. I’m also thinking that when I feel like experimenting again I might try MP over the top, and see ifthat tones down the reddishenss a bit. Theoretically, it shouldn’t matter of the MP washes off quicker, since the other colour will remain underneath (I hope..?).
