I did my 5K. It was ok. I don’t want to do another one. It just didnt move me. I have been walking lately instead of running. I enjoy it more. I can notice nature and listen to the birds. I am giving up running for walking.

Called in Thursday and we ran the 5K course to get a feel for it. Also got a tour of the Ronald McDonald House which was BEAUTIFUL. They were happy to show someone from the NICU around and I was happy to see it. Anyway, walked more than I wanted to. People who say they can run 2 miles without stopping are like the terminator to me. I wanted to run it in less than 1 hour and did it in 54. I know, settle down. Actually had to walk a lot. When I was done, I had to sit in the grass for a few minutes. I have NEVER done that. I don’t know what the crap is wrong with me. I can honestly feel my motivation slipping away from me. Maybe its because my skinny girlfriend is running half marathons and running again after we run. Ugh.

So I ran for 2:16 (minutes, don’t get crazy). Then rested for about 2 minutes and did it again. My first 5K is in July so I am making progress. I am running for the Ronald McDonald House and in memory of my gram who died in May. I just want to finish without looking like a turkey.

So I ran 4 days last week AND increased my running time. Surprisingly, I didn’t pass out. Though, one day was so hot by the time we got home, I opened the door and literally hit the floor. Had to lay with feet elevated for about 10 minutes because the room was spinning. That was all heat though. I really need to move somewhere the sun never shines because anything over 65 is horrible to me. My legs are changing and I look forward to running. Go me!

I run 3 days a week and allowed myself to invest in a watch with interval timing so I can run 1 minute, walk 1 minute and so on. This has been going on for 3 weeks. Crazy Runner’s World said I should be running 8 minutes, walking 2. I say, at least I’m doing it and can see considerable improvement. I don’t feel like I am going to pass out anymore or scream DEAR GOD HOW MUCH LONGER?!
Surprisingly, the days I really don’t want to go but do and hate every second of it, are the days I am most proud of.
