So might be a bit of an ambitious goal, but I think it would be worthwhile to try to climb all the peaks within one year. It’s definitely possible to knock out more than one in a weekend, and quite a few more if you take a week off. While the highest peak I’ve been on is Mount. Toubkal in Morocco only at 13,671 feet, I loved the climb and the view from the summit. This could really only be accomplished if I lived in Colorado for a while, which is something I would really like to do.

So I will be in Colorado for the holidays and I’m trying to convince my parents and a few friends to make it over to Stevens Gulch for some snow-shoeing. If we go over there, we will be SO CLOSE to TWO fourteeners – Greys and Torreys. We’ll see what the conditions are and if we can snow-shoe to the summits that would be awesome, right? I’m really getting excited. I will have to check my guide books but I read online that it is only a 4 mile hike up to the first summit. Granted that’s a 3,000 foot elevation gain so it may be tough but we’ll see once I get out there. I’m so excited!!! Now to convince my parents that this is a good idea to hike this before the holidays. :)

So far, I’ve climbed less than 10 of them. There are 50+ depending on what standard of measurement is used. http://www.14ers.com/photos/photos_14ers1.html
As a Colorado native, born and raised there, I should have done this before I moved. Now it is just an elusive goal that sits in the back of my head. I want to make it a reality by trying to do 1 per summer for the rest of my life. Whenever I go back to Colorado to visit in the summer, I need to climb at least one!!
Next step – two in one go – Grey’s and Torrey’s Peaks!

I climbed Pikes Peak about a little over a week ago.At this pace…one a year…its going to take awhile. I hope I can do alot more next year.
I climbed Longs a couple of weeks back. Started out at 1:30 in the morning and climbed by headlamp. The sun came up as I was passing through the keyhole… Bathed in Alpenglow! It was a tough climb, 11 hours on the trail, but well worth it. I might have to go back to do that one again!
so i’ve only actually done two 14ers but i definitely want to do more. my skills of climbing are desperitely lacking but i do try very hard to succeed.
while winter is approaching i realize the possiblility of me climbing has pretty much disappeared for the time being however when spring hits i’d love to find some people to climb with.
I don’t need to climb all the fourteeners, just the real good ones. So far I’ve done 14: Pikes, Blanca, Ellingwood, Little Bear, Shaveno, Crestone Peak, Crestone Needle, Humbolt, San Luis, Challenger, Kit Carson, Elbert, Massive, and Pyramid.
Okay, only have hiked two so far—Gray’s peak and Bierstadt. I learned on the first one to bring a poncho. Being a lady, modest and all, I couldn’t just squat in the middle of open view and pee. I detemined the best alternative to be a poncho. Easy…just slip it on…find a rock to shelter yourself, and let it go! Perfect. The views are spectacular and you’ll sleep like a baby once you hit the bed.
OMG So Great! It’s so beautiful up there! Would love to go again sometime!
