How to exercise 30 minutes each day
How I did it: I made exercise a primary even if that meant getting 6 1/2 hours of sleep instead of 7. Normally I workout for 45minutes to 1 hour 3x each week but made it my determination to workout at least 30 minutes which can be easily done by walking with a MP3 player or friend. Now it is so much of my daily routine that I don't even think twice as to whether I feel like exercising. It took 10 days to become a daily routine. I made exercise the first thing I do when I get home, instead of becoming bogged down with other much needed activities. 30 minutes goes very quickly.
Lessons & tips: I chose a variety of exercises to do (walking on my most busiest days, running when I had more time, weight training and bike riding). It helped to make a to do list and put exercise for at least 30 minutes at the top of the list. After each activity was completed I checked it off - things that were not completed were crossed out - this made me much more determined to complete the task instead of skipping.
Resources: I joined a gym which provided no excuse on bad weather days, I also have a stationery bike in my home for nights when I did not make it to the gym, thereby offering me no other excuse to skip exercising.
