bjuwm back to work... uuuggghhh....
How I did it: Well, I made a comment on this goal and someone responded... She asked me if I wanted to email or snail mail and I suggested snail mail because it's more fun to get a letter... We're definately not hard core about writing each other weekly or anything but we've kept in touch for quite a few months now and we've gotten to know each other... it's fun and I'd be willing to have another if someone is interested... How I did it: Simply go to penpal website offered to your age group (students have the best sites available) and set up a profile. Within two days of being on the studentsoftheworld.info site I had e-ails from people all over the world wanting to be my penpal. Make sure you feel comfortable with who you send too but other than that have fun! I now have penpals in South Africa, France, Germany and Finland! Read how I did it…

I now have two more pen pals, but I’m leaving this up as an open invitation to anyone else who’d also like a pen pal. I’m always up for writing letters.

I have one pen pal from here on 43t now, but I’m hoping for more so I’m not going to take this off my list yet.
I love art and literature and philosophy and politics. I’m very open and honest and like talking about what makes people tick. If any of this sounds interesting and you want a pen pal, send me a message!

I have one more person who wants to be my pen pal and has asked for my address, and another person who is looking for pen pals to whom I have extended an invitation. : )
I have not been having any luck with this goal. Perhaps I’m too old or too passive (i’ve stopped trying to be the one to initiate contact for instance) for interpals to really work so I’ll likely be giving up on this one.
I don’t think it’s a major loss since the penpalling community seems mostly full of granola hippies and bored housewives wanting to tell you about their kids. Nothing against either group, but I don’t have much in common with either.
I’m going to try to be a little more active on interpals this week since I’ll be going out of town and won’t have much to do but sit around a WiFi enabled hotel room.

I’ve found a pen pal, actually two. They are both from France and both very much fun to talk with. I’m not going to put this on my DONE list because I’ve only been talking with them for about three weeks, and I want to make sure that the pen pals last before I say it’s done.

I’ve already had my first pen pal for a couple weeks and written and received one letter. I’m still looking for more pen pals, though. Once I have three of them I’ll mark this goal as done.
WANTED: a recipient and source of snail mail.
Me: literate, liberal, unnaturally inquisitive, geographically isolated. “Colorful”.
You: English-speaking, grammatically minded, reality-based. Idiosyncratic handwriting and margin doodles are a plus.
(What can I say? I’m easy to please.)
I’d like to have a penpal from anywhere that is a committed quilter and maybe even a Christian. I don’t care about the age of the person. I just would like to exchange ideas, maybe quilt patterns and get to know about a life different than mine. I am a married gal, mom of 5 and g-mom of 9…very active and love birds, quilting Yorkies, reading gardening and the outdoors in general.
