I’ve decided to make small weekly payments rather than just one big monthly payment as a way to lower my daily balance thing and make payments more…possible. I’ve been able to keep the one card current…but the other one is really tough right now. I need to call them and try to work something out.
How to fix my credit
How I did it: I started by disputing all the old stuff. after a few years of being sold to different collection agencys they lose the paperwork some times. They must prove that you owe the money or they have to delete. for things You can't dispute off you can offer to "pay for delete" but get a signed agreement saying they will.
You will also have to build good credit. I started with a secured card from Orchard bank and Crown Jewelers. I had these for about 6 months. used the credit card to buy gas and things like that. I only bought a ring from crown and they reported for 2 years!
after about 6 month a got a hooters card, target and BestBuy. and after about a year i was able to get a car loan. year and a half I qualified for a home loan but it took another 6 months to find a house in my price range.
Lessons & tips: DO NOT PAY SOMEONE TO DO WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FREE!!
Don't pay for any collections without a pay for delete agreement.
Do all of your negotiations by mail, don't call!! collection agents will lie about everything just to get you to pay.
Stay on top of anything that reports to your credit.
Resources: I was using truecredit.com to check my credit every day while i was repairing but they dropped it to only once a month.

The first thing I’ve done is got my credit report. The best thing to do is go to annualcreditreprot.com and get the free report your emtitled to every year (**Note: The big 3 don’t like having to give these out so they ask you ridiculously obscure questions about your past and make it very difficult to get the report online, but if you can’t get it online just tell them to mail it to you, and yes, this is 100% completely free, no tricks to it.) It’s important that these are the reports you use, because if you use a tri-merge it gives them an extra 15 days to validate/verify information. I’ve attached my score, so lets see if we can’t steadily raise this thing over time.

Yeah I really need to get this done. The worst thing is that I know all the tricks to credit repair and could have my report sparkling within a couple of months, I’ve just never taken the time to sit down and do this in an organized fashion. I think I’ll do this and video document it as I do it so that everybody can see how easy it really is to repair your credit. Plus it’ll be a little more fun doing it that way so I’ll be more likely to see it through. Really though, you wouldn’t believe how little work it actually takes. Two words boys and girls….Debt Validation. I’ll keep you guys posted as I do this.
I’m moving back home so I won’t have to pay rent. When I get a new job I plan to start paying my debts back one item at a time. I’m excited about getting this back under control, I think I can get rid of my bad debt in 2 years, max. We’ll see!
I’m very free with my money because it doesn’t hold so much importance to me, and I really need to stop that shit. Due to my last relationship, my credit got flipped completely upside down. I need to dig myself out of debt and get myself back on the up and up. I can’t rent an RV to travel the Americas with bad credit.
Michelle is busy busy busy...
I got my credit report the other day, and it really isn’t that bad. The only negative things affecting my credit are some really old medical bills, and all together they might add up to $2000. One problem though-because I’ve always either co-signed, or had a co-signer, I don’t actually have much credit. That’s sad. You would think that because my credit report has very little on it, it would be a good thing-but no. Oh well.
Apparently my credit isn’t so bad after all. I’ve been living away from my home country for some time and really just ignored the issue. Now I’m back and am taking a hard look at everything in my life. It’s time for me to grow up. I don’t have a man to take care of me anymore. I have to learn to handle these things on my own. It’s frightening to be nearly 40 and realize I know absolutely nothing about money, finances or taking care of myself.
When I opened my checking account a couple of months ago they gave me a credit card. Things couldn’t be too bad then, eh? I do not like carrying debt, so I will use it only for items I already have the money for. My only debt is my student loan, but that’s in default. I may have some ugly things on my credit report going back to my first marriage, but I don’t really know.
What I do know: I need to take the steps necessary to find out what my credit score is and take care of any negative marks. No one else is going to do it for me.
It’s fixed to the point of being able to buy a car! I also got approval to buy a house!!
Getting rid of the errors was and still is the hardest part of the process. I have been trying to fix my credit for about a year and a half now. The only negative marks are inquiries I did not approve or false information on the reports. You’d think the credit reporting agencies would try to work with you!
