How to get a real best friend
How I did it: Originally, I had been looking for a new best friend. I made new friendships and tried my best to make them my "best friend," despite they didn't consider me their "best friend." Some, if not all, of those failed. At the end of it, those "great" friendships have either crumbled, drifted, or just plain out broken due to lies, rumors, or people changing (since people defiantly do change in high school).
Well, one day, one of my so-called "friends" decided to just hate on me. For whatever reason she made up. And when my "best friend" decided to walk away with her, instead of coming to me, that's when I realized everything: these people aren't going to be with me forever. Chances are I won't even remember them for a good few years.
But I also realized the person who has been with me for the past 3 years is someone I can tell anything. I feel so comfortable around her, more so than anyone outside my family. We've been through so much, it's unreal. This is possibly the only friendship I've been able to maintain for this long and you have no idea how proud I am of it.
Lessons & tips: Be grateful for who you have now. You'll never know how much they matter until they're gone, and I've been lucky to realize how much this one person matters to me.
