To run again... 10 months ago

Oh to run again and to feel my legs effortlessly carry me through the miles….

It’s been too, too long and the lack of running effects far more than any effort I ever exerted to get the job done.

    I miss it.

    Progress already 2 years ago

Well, It has been much better than I thought it would be!
I happen to have a lot of drive and enjoy sticking to or surpassing my initial goals.
Yesterday was Saturday so I decided to explore. I ran quite a bit off campus in an attempt to find the walmart (I have no idea where it is).
I ended up running 50 minutes (my usual is 30). It was perfectly comfortable and highly entertaining.
    I’m already loving running again.
When I get tired I say to myself “Take it easy” one step at a time because if I push too hard, my mind might form a defense against it.
Anyway, I’d better get back to my goal of raising my GPA by doing my reading for anthropology.

    Already started 2 years ago

Well, when I started college this year (or fall of 2006) I already had a horrible knee injury. No one really knew what it was, how it happened, or how bad it really was. I’m not a big fan of excuses but this is just what happened. I tried very hard to run through the injury but it just got worse. After 4 monthes of which I usually ran only 3 times a week and did machines at the rec on all the other days, my injury was gone.
I got so used to multitasking at the rec that I began forgetting my love for running outside…

I went about a month and a half without a run and now I am getting back to it. I kept saying I would when the weather was barable…well, now it is. So I went later on after the rec yesterday, just to see how I was.
Not so hot. I went for 20 minutes—enough for a taste.

Today I was gonna do 25 but I ended up going for my usual which is highly satisfying. (30 minutes). I’ll admit that it wasn’t all that comfortable but that’s what i get.
I’m just gonna keep up with it, then I am confident that my love will be renewed. :-)

A lot of my focus at first was to keep my weight steady. (that was a few years ago when I started) but then that thought headed to the back of my head… WHen I realized my potential and ability…I saw that..
Running is so wonderful. You can explore so many places, test yourself, it helps you release emotions…obvious health benefits, tones legs, It keeps you fit.
Running is so natural, you just can’t get the same results from man-made machines. I mean, I think I kept somewhat in shape by working out at the rec everyday but…not running shape.

Plus, I really missed my woods and those annoyed looks you get from drivers who have never run in their lives. (those people that nearly stop just to pass me really crack me up).

People, I’m not hardcore, I’m not out to win an award. RUnning just drifted from me for a little while and now I’m getting it back.

    THats all for now.

I spent my summer training with my son’s high school’s cross country team. Felt great, was doing really well, then I ended up with stress fractures in both legs. Aaaargh!! Still waiting for the legs to heal so I can get back on the trails, but once they’re healthy, watch out!
